Rio Rancho Police Department News

For A Good Cause Yesterday, Lt. Nick Onken had his head shaved by various members of our staff, at $5 per clipper swipe, to raise money for a Rio Rancho kiddo in need. Joseph is a local student and youth hockey player who has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. Throughout November Rio Rancho PD staff will be raising funds in various ways to support Joseph. Among which will be altered grooming and appearance standards. In November, our officers will be able to grow facial hair beyond that of a standard mustache, and/or color their hair blue. To do so, each officer participating will be donating toward Joseph's treatment support. You can help too! Read more at: https://www.gofundme.com/JosephTrujillo

Calling All Citizens, Officers Need Assistance! (Rio Rancho, NM) --- As we approach the 2018 holiday shopping season, the Rio Rancho Police Explorers Post 911 is in need of the community’s help as they gear up for the Annual Christmas Party for under privileged children in Rio Rancho. Every year for nearly fifteen years, members of the RRPD Explorers Post join with Rio Rancho Police Officers to volunteer their time and efforts to put on this very valuable event that provides Christmas gifts and a meal for about 300 children every year. This event would not have such a vibrant history if it were not for the generous assistance from local businesses and community members. We are in need of new unwrapped toys for boys and girls between the ages of toddler to 12 years old. Donations can be dropped off at the Rio Rancho Police Department at 500 Quantum Road, the Esther Bone Memorial Library, and the Loma Colorado Library beginning October 30th, 2018. Though donations of toys are preferred, interested parties can make financial contributions for the event to the Rio Rancho Police Explorers Post 911 by check. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 15th, and we hope to have preparatory activities finalized by November 26th. It would be greatly appreciated if donations could be in before November 26th so that sorting and wrapping can begin. Thank you. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT: LIEUTENANT KEN WILLEY OFFICE: (505) 891-5929 kwilley@rrnm.gov

We are here at 500 Quantum Road conducting the drug take back. Our officers will be on hand from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, to take your old, expired or unwanted prescription medications. We will also have our recruitment staff on hand to speak to any prospective police officers. This is an opportunity to find out what it takes to be a police officer and to have your questions answered.
