The Hugo Police Department is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual with strong computer and analytical skills who is interested in becoming a Crime Analyst. This position is responsible for professional and technical work in support of The Hugo Police Department’s efforts to reduce crime within our jurisdiction. Under general direction of the Chief of Police and/or his designee, the Crime Analyst will perform statistical and analytical research involving the use of computer applications. The analyst will gather and analyze crime and management data for crime patterns, trends, suspect-crime correlations, target-suspect profiles, crime forecasting as well as testify in a court of law. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing reports, computerized mapping of crime data, presenting reports to staff/public and performing basic to intermediate data processing.
Pay will be $15.00 per hour

Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, computer science or associated fields preferred
High School Diploma
Five (5) or more years full-time law enforcement or emergency dispatch experience favorable
Strong computer skills
Work 40 hours per week
Be available during off hours for major crime incidents where the analyst’s skillset is required to further an investigation
Pass a thorough background investigation
Not have a felony conviction or misdemeanor conviction for crimes other than minor traffic related offenses
May be required to submit to and pass a polygraph examination
Be of strong moral and ethical character
Be able to travel for training and other duties related to the tasks and duties of a criminal analyst
This position is a year to year job based on grants.
