Newberry County Sheriff's Office Sunday May 13th, 2018 :: 08:49 p.m. EDT Advisory Deputies are searching for missing person from 2655 Wilson Road Newberry Dog teams from the City and County are searching for a missing man in the Civitan Road and Airport Road area of Newberry County. The missing man left home late Sunday afternoon after becoming upset. The missing man left on foot from the general area of 2655 Wilson Road in Newberry. Israel Morales is described as a 36 year old Hispanic male; wearing blue jeans short, blue shirt, black hat with deer emblem and camouflaged Crocs. Anyone in this area that has seen Morales is asked to call 803-321-2222 with information.

Weather Alert CHANGE: Newberry County is under a Winter Weather ADVISORY. This means we have the potential for winter weather to affect our area. NWS is predicting the possibility of rain and snow beginning between 0400-0700 Wednesday and tapering off Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will drop over this period of time causing some of the precipitation to stick, especially on bridges, overpasses, and culverts under roads. There is the potential for 1-2" of mixed precipitation during this time. Road hazards are possible. The line of winter weather will be north and west of the I 20 corridor. Continued freezing temperatures will persist throughout the day and into Thursday, after, weather will improve and temperatures will rise. The Newberry County School District is currently working on making decisions on school schedules during this period. More to follow.................
