Officer involved critical incident update

We were contacted about a service provided by one of our newest officers. Officer Dimond came across a person who was traveling through SLC and ran out of gas. Officer Dimond went to a gas station, borrowed a gas can, and filled it full of gas. He then returned and helped the person so he could continue on his travels. Great Job Ofc. Dimond!

Fraud Alert: It has been brought to the attention of the SLCPD that criminals are using the name of the SLCPD as well as the names of officers of the SLCPD to threaten or harass individuals, claiming they have a warrant and seeking money. Members of the SLCPD would never make these phone calls soliciting money, nor would they request anyone to pay by credit card, gift card, or any other means to an individual member of the department. This vehicle was involved in the drive-by shooting death of Wanyun Judd. Judd was at home sleeping when there was a drive-by shooting on her residence. Judd was struck by the gunfire and killed. At this time it appears that the wrong house was likely targeted. Anyone with information is asked to call (801)799-3000 reference case #18-178543. SLCPD is also offering a REWARD for information leading to a successful prosecution in this case.

Salt Lake City Police would like to locate Francis Lee Ragsdale, age 30. The suspect is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating an individual wanted for questioning in the homicide that occurred downtown in the early morning hours of September 15th 2018. Salt Lake City Police would like to locate and speak with Thalwallkelah Lamar Washington. Thalwallkelah goes by his middle name, Lamar, and is 38 years old. Lamar is known to drive a black, 2007, Mercedes Benz with California license plate 7XCP832. Detectives have also received information that cell phone video of this incident may have been taken by parties uninvolved in the incident. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or whom may have taken cell phone video to please contact SLCPD.
