Have you heard about the new safety app? UW-Platteville Alumni Association and University Police are excited to announce the release of the Rave Guardian App at UW-Platteville. This app includes a 911 Emergency Call Button, a "Send a Tip" message system, and a safety timer that will alert your friends and family if the timer expires before you reset it. Check it out!!! It is available on Android and iOS devices.

An update on the on alleged attempted robbery, reported to the university community on Sept. 14: After a thorough investigation, the attempted robbery was found to be a false report. The complainant recanted the story, and the case is now closed. There was no threat to the campus from this incident.

Last night, a car was stolen from a university lot on the east side of campus between 3 and 6 a.m. Fortunately, the car was recovered in the city and returned to the owner. University Police are asking for anyone who saw someone or something suspicious to contact police@uwplatt.edu or 342-1584.

The annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign continues through Labor Day. What can you do? If you suspect an impaired driver, contact 911. Never allow someone to get behind the wheel impaired. Consider downloading the free "Drive Sober" mobile app. Along with a designated driver selector, it includes a find-a-ride feature that uses a smart phone’s GPS system to locate alternative transportation.

Chief Hallman and Sergeant Williams joined City of Platteville officers for the Stuff the Cruiser event last week. All the food collected was donated to the Platteville Food Pantry.

Officer Brad Wells completing the Wisconsin firearms qualification course. University Police officers try to get as much training in as possible over Summer Break. More firearms, an active shooter drill and the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course will be completed before the students return.

Our very own Officer Kurt Tuescher is in Washington D.C. with the Grant County Honor Guard for Police Week.

This is Wisconsin’s Severe Weather Awareness Week (April 9-April 13). There is a mock tornado warning drill scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, April, 12 and again at 6:45 p.m. to give families and second-shift workers a chance to practice their emergency plans.
