The Mayor and Council of Moorcroft have approved the use of fireworks inside town limits this 4th of July. The following dates and times will be observed as being the only times they are allowed: July 1 - 8am to 10 pm July 2 - 8am to 10 pm July 3 - 8am to 10 pm July 4 - 8am to midnight July 5 - 8am to 10 pm. We would ask two things of citizens when they shoot off their fireworks this year. First, be safe! Every year there are numerous injuries and burns as a result of handling fireworks. Secondly, please if using public areas, (streets included) clean up as much of your trash and debris as you can. Thank you and have a Happy 4th!
The PD will be testing the towns warning sirens TODAY @ Noon! Again this is only a test of the system, no need to worry 😊
We’re disheartened to hear the news from Casper Police Department. We’d like to offer our thoughts and prayers for the recovery of their officer. There will be some rough days ahead for the department, the officers involved, and the family of the officers involved. This is the statement from Casper Police Department: https://casperpolice.org/2018/05/06/may-6-2018-officer-involved-shooting/

Moorcroft Police Department would like to remind residents of the junk ordinance ( Ordinance 13-101), as well as the weed ordinance. (Ordinance 13-304-14) You can view these on line at www.townofmoorcroft.com We survived another winter as extended as it has been. Your Police Department would like to remind residents that we will be enforcing the weed and junk ordinances as we do every year. In between rain and snow showers look at your yard and ask if, I were my neighbors, or those pesky Officers led by that Red headed teddy bear, what would I think of my yard? Is there things that I can pick up, clean up, paint, mow, or remove, that would make my yard look better this year? Folks this is your town and we’d sure like to see some pride in this little town return. We’re asking residents to take pride in their yard for their own benefit, as well as to make it so our first meeting isn’t one of us telling you, you’ve got to mow the lawn, or remove that stack of what used to be Aunt Sally’s shed (don’t worry we won’t tell her, if you don’t). Maybe even consider selling a vehicle (or three) that you don’t use but haven’t wanted to part with yet. Yes we understand being sentimental (we know that was the vehicle you got your first French fry from the drive thru, had your first talk with your maker before you crashed, went to the drive in movie for the first time, hit or went hunting for your first deer in, we get it). Maybe it’s time to add another first for those vehicles. First time that vehicle was sold by you so that somebody else can have their own list of firsts with it. So please get out there and enjoy the sunshine. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the sun( that big fireball in the sky that makes the day feel so warm☀️). Get your yards and vacant lots mowed, junk removed, and make your yard something your neighbor will be jealous of. It might just get them motivated as well. And please if you see something at your neighbors that you’d like to help them change, knock on the door introduce yourself and ask if they’d be interested in a subscription to… oops wrong spiel. Respectfully, remember we don't want to have to respond to a brawl over yard care issues ask them if they’d be interested in making a change in how their yard looks. What can it hurt? Maybe that’s what they’ve needed to help them do something about it. Who knows, maybe they’ve got some ideas about your yard as well. Does their lawn need to be mowed? Ask if they need help, maybe their mower is broken and they could use the help. Remember, it could be you that needs help next time. Let’s all work together this year. We don’t really want to spend all our time talking to people about their lawns and yards. Kind of feels like being parents to teenagers. We know you’re busy and have a whole list of things to do that are much more enjoyable. Our officers have much more enjoyable things to do as well. After all you enjoy seeing us stopped on the side of the road with those flashing Red and Blue lights on, as long as it’s not in front of your house telling you to mow your grass right?
These scams are still happening and as you can see in the video they don’t care what number they call. Please don’t give out any personal information over the phone. The IRS will not contact you by phone. Remember they want a paper trail as much as you do so they do things by mail.

We have received calls from citizens today in regards to calls from someone claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) . Please remember that the IRS will never make contact over the phone asking for any information. If you receive a call from anyone claiming to be from the IRS hang up do not give them any information. The number we were given from one of these calls is 202-798-3791. Scammers can create false numbers to show on a caller ID screen. Also when receiving phone calls from unfamiliar numbers it is recommended not to answer them as scammers can record conversations and edit them. An example would be a caller asking if you can hear them you say" yes". You later get a bill in the mail from a company you have never done business with and when you dispute the bill they pull the edited conversation where you can be heard accepting responsibility by saying yes.
Pinnacle Bank has advised the Moorcroft Police Department that they have received several of these counterfeit bills. The Police Department has taken the information to local businesses and would like to share this information with the public as well. The article gives great details but a quick run down of the indicators are there is Chinese writing on the back and front, the holographic strip and the Liberty Bell do not reflect as a real bill does. There are hash marks on the upper left corner of the back of the bill and the same marks on the upper right corner on the face of the bill. The serial number on the bill reported by Pinnacle Bank is the same as the one pictured in the article. If you have any information or questions, please call Moorcroft Police Department at 307-756-3301 or Crook County Sheriff's Office Dispatch at 307-756-1225.
