On July 29, 2018, deputies responded to the residence located at 1900-block of Winners Circle to assist with cleanup of the property. The property was severely neglected by the homeowner to the point the vegetation was overgrown and a health hazard to the homeowner and his neighbors.
Deputy Jake Bandurski answered the initial call to the residence in reference to a welfare check. He discovered that the subject was an elderly military veteran and due to his age and personal reasons was unable to care for himself or his property.
Deputy Bandurski approached his sergeant with the idea to help the homeowner by cleaning up his property. Sergeant Shorette presented the task to his shift during muster seeking volunteers for the task. He informed them that the task would be done on their personal time. He instructed the volunteers to bring power tools and lawn equipment to assist in completing the task. The deputies were also assisted by Joshua Swindell, a resident of Winners Circle with the clean up.
The ECSO would like to honor ALL the officers that went above and beyond the call of duty that day: Lieutenant Jack Holland, Sergeant Brian Shorette, Deputy Matthew Johnson, Deputy Jake Bandurski, Deputy First Class Ellis Smallwood, Senior Deputy Jeff Gardner, Deputy Justin Fountain, Deputy Andrew Kelley and Deputy First Class Mildred Smallwood.
