Yesterday was the annual Halloween event at the Howey Library. The best costume in each age category won a prize. Everyone had great costumes!

We had a great morning visiting with the local citizens. Thanks to the Howey Community Church for hosting the event!

Last night on her way home Officer Lori Martinez found this dog in the middle of CR 44. She stopped and removed the dog from the roadway. The dog was turned over to Animal Control unharmed. Great job Officer Martinez.

On Saturday October 20, 2018, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Howey-in-the-Hills Police Department will be hosting Coffee with a Cop community event at the Howey Community Church located at 420 North Palm Avenue, Howey-in-the-Hills. Coffee with a Cop allows citizens to sit down 1 on 1 with an officer who works in the community that they live, and discuss whatever concerns that are important to them.

Motorists should expect some delays while the contractor works behind the barrier wall south of the bridge. The Howey Bridge will have flagging operations beginning July 16, 2018 (Monday) from 3:00am till 12:00pm (depending on weather). Motorists should expect some delays while the contractor works to restripe the southbound traffic shift where motorists exit the bridge. Fortunately, Governor Rick Scott has signed into law the “Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday” valid today through Thursday, June 7, 2018. Traffic Enforcement Alert: Starting today through June 3rd, 2018, HPD will take part in the National “Click It or Ticket” campaign, in an effort to save lives through increased seat belt usage.
