On 10/16/18, the male made a fraudulent purchase using the victim’s credit card via the Wal-Mart App at a self check out in the Stuart store. The male then returned the item at a Wal-Mart in Port Orange, FL a few hours later. He was seen driving a red Dodge Journey. STUART POLICE ARE ACCEPTING UNWANTED MEDICATIONS IN HONOR OF NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Stuart Police Department will be accepting unwanted drugs from 10:00am until 2:00pm. We will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at CVS 2284 SE Federal Highway Stuart, FL. The initiative aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Officer Zach Pecci was recognized tonight by the Stuart-Jensen Elks Lodge 1870 for Outstanding First Responder from the Stuart Police Department. Officer Zach Pecci was recognized for his personal motivation, excellent teamwork, and the professionalism that he has displayed over the past year. We have a bin in the front of the Stuart Police Department to collect items for Floridians who were impacted by Hurricane Michael. Team South Florida, a non-profit organization will be heading to area on 10/20/2018. Team South Florida will deliver the items to local police departments to ensure the items go to the community. Stuart Police would like to remind everyone of the "Presidential Alert" that will be displayed across many cell phones throughout the country this afternoon. The TEST message is expected to be sent at 2:18 P.M. Eastern Time. FEMA will be testing it’s notification system by sending out a text with the header "Presidential Alert" and the message, "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed." Cell phone users who have their phones turned on, are within range of a cell tower and whose wireless providers are included in the WEA system will receive the text message. FEMA will also run a test of its Emergency Alert System for radio and television today, beginning two minutes after the WEA test. Remember, this is only a test.

On Monday night, Stuart Police responded to a call regarding a kitten being trapped in a storm drain on US 1. Officers Isham and Ponte arrived on scene to find the frightened baby feline stuck below the steel grate on the side of the road. Officers removed the grate, while Officer Isham climbed below to make the rescue. After a successful recovery, the caller who located the trapped cat notified us that the mother of the kitten was located, and the two we reunited…. Talk about a feel good story….

On Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon the City of Stuart has receive notification from a state certified laboratory that all water samples taken after the Precautionary Boil Water Notice was issued have confirmed that water is safe for consumption. Therefore, the Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been lifted. Residents and businesses may resume their normal use of water without restrictions.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY Due to a water main break, the right hand southbound lane on Kanner Highway near the intersection of SE Central Parkway is closed. Repair crews are on their way to the scene and it is unknown when the lane will re open. Please use extra caution when driving in this area.

The following roads will be closed from 6:45 pm until approximately 8 pm: SE Ocean Boulevard from Hospital Avenue to Confusion Corner. Confusion Corner to Haney Circle SE Osceola Boulevard from Haney Circle to Hospital Avenue. Please seed alternative routes if your plans do not include attending the parade.
