The Gulf Breeze Police Department would like to remind everyone to lock your vehicles and to not leave any personal items inside!!
The crime spree "Felony Lane" has been very active again in the community along Hwy 98 reaching all the down to Panama City Beach. This crew travels business and residential areas looking for vehicles containing personal items. The crew then smashes out the window and takes the personal items including firearms, purses, electronics etc. The crew then uses rental cars often driven by females (sometimes wearing wigs) to travel to multiple banks and attempt to cash checks or withdraw money using the stolen personal items (Debit card, FL ID, checks etc.). The female driving will attempt to disguise themselves to match the picture on the stolen ID. In addition, this crew also will target vehicles to steal auto license plates to switch out with the rental vehicle in an attempt to avoid identification. The tag obtained will often come back to another vehicle not associated with the rental car.
Often this crew is successful in obtaining thousands of dollars in cash before a bank alerts law enforcement.
If you see suspicious activity please contact the Gulf Breeze Police Department or the local sheriff's department in your area.
And remember to ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLE AND LEAVE NO BELONGINGS BEHIND!!!
