***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*** HEROIN USER IN FORSYTH COUNTY LEADS TO SEARCH WARRANT & ARREST IN ATLANTA In late 2017, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office noticed an increase in local heroin arrests. Our Narcotics Detectives, not accepting the simple arrest of a heroin user, started digging deeper into where the heroin dealers suppling Forsyth County citizens were located. Our Forsyth County Detectives shared intelligence with Investigators assigned to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) West Metro Regional Drug Task Force. This shared intelligence gave specific information on the location of a dealer(s) in Atlanta selling heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and various pills. The information was given to the Atlanta Police Narcotics Unit through the West Metro Regional Task Force. The Atlanta Police Department worked for weeks conducting surveillance on an address provided by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. On May 10, 2018, the Atlanta Police Department Narcotics Unit secured a Search Warrant. Once the search warrant was executed, the following drugs were seized from the location; 172.4 grams of Heroin, 574 grams of cocaine, 140 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, 7.6 grams of MDMA/Ecstasy, Rossi .357 Revolver, Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistol and $15, 509.00 in United States Currency. Atlanta Police arrested two individuals at the scene. Sheriff Ron Freeman “we will go after anyone who endangers the lives and safety of our citizens, regardless of where they may be.” This in part lead to the creation of the Johns Creek Alpharetta Forsyth (JCAF) Drug Task Force at the end of 2017, which was created to focus on dealer level narcotics while having the ability to move freely across jurisdictions to conduct investigations. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Detective A. Griffin of the Atlanta Police Department who was assigned to the West Metro Regional Drug Task Force for being proactive in this investigation.

***TRAFFIC ALERT*** Car crash on Buford Dam Road at the Forsyth / Gwinnett line. Gwinnett PD is working the crash. Expext delays crossing the Dam.

*****UPDATE***** 11:00 a.m. FCSO has learned, through this Facebook post, the male and Toyota Tundra in the LOOKOUT was actually speaking to his own son close by where this other child was. Thanks to the kids for being so observant. On the evening of 05/17/2018 in the area of Lake Forest Subdivision, a white male with buzz cut hair attempted to get a child into his black Toyota Tundra. He ordered the child into his vehicle approximately three times before the child threatened to call police and ran away. The vehicle is similar to the one shown below. The vicitm described that the truck is missing the Toyota emblem from the tailgate and that there is a a dent and paint damage to the rear driverside wheelwell. Additional witnesses saw the truck in the area and noticed that it may have been carrying construction material, specifically plywood, at the time of the incident. Any information that could lead to the identification of this subject, please contact Detective Lauren Belafi at 770-781-2222 x3338. #FCSOBOLO

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Today, just like every other day, we hold our fallen brothers and sisters and their families in our prayers. A Hero remembered never dies. #NationalPeaceOfficersMemorialDay2018
