Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at Sioux City, City Hall. Thanks to Tim Seaman for speaking, Rochelle Jenn Clark singing the National Anthem, Sandra Pearson for singing Amazing Grace. Father Rupp and Major Rev. Von Vandiver Invocation and benediction. To George Lindblade for the great photos as always. It has been 25 years since we last etched a Deputy or Police Officers name on the monument. We pray no other names be added.

After our Law Enforcement Ceremony, we held an awards presentation for distinguished service at the Wooxbury County Sheriff’s Office. We recognized two communication center employees also. Rannellle Condon, Kevin Maloney, from the Woodbury Country Comm Center Exceptional Service and Life Saving. Travis Ryan Correctional Officer of the year, Sergeant Chris Jansen Deputy of the year, Reserve Deputy of the year Geoff Fay, civilian clerk of the year, Jennifer Beeson, Jerry Cruz and Sgt. Anthony Fitch Community Policng award. Congratulations to all recipients.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Today we will have our joint Law Enforcement Ceremony at City Hall 12 PM.

Graduation for DARE students at Woodbury Central School. Deputy Garrett taught 5th-grade students the skills to resist drugs, alcohol, bullying and peer pressure. Also presented K9 Demo. Pizza and cookies provided.

One year ago Deputy Burbridge was murdered. Heartfelt Prayers for the Burbridge family and all members of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office. Our jail staff paused this morning in Honor of Mark. God Bless!

DARE graduation at Kingsley Pierson school. Deputy Garrett met with students at KP for the last several weeks teaching them resistance skills to drugs, alcohol, and bullying. Great opportunity to build positive relationships with students. We also presented a k9 demo and displayed some tools of the trade.

We are proud of Deputy Dustin DeGroot for his tireless work in the field of drug recognition experts. Deputy DeGroot works hard to make the roads safe in Woodbury County and the State of Iowa. Deputy DeGroot was recognized at the Governors Traffic Safety Bureau for outstanding performance in Northwest Iowa. Deputy DeGroot is pictured with his wife, Mom & Dad, also pictured with Public Safety Commissioner Roxanne Ryan.
