Building update! We have a roof and the jail side is coming along. The beginning of the jail cells are also starting.

Be careful on the roads, a lot of harvesting going on and there is more heavy machinery on the roads then normal! Look both ways and be extra careful passing farm vehicles!

Highway 169 is open! Everywhere. Finally!

We have good news! Highway 169 is officially open from 141 to Ogden! Yeah! But...169 in Adel is still closed. Maybe more good news tomorrow? We will be in touch.

We all knew it would happen eventually...Highway 169 is CLOSED at Adel due to water over the roadway. The detour from the south is Highway 169 south to Highway 6 east to R-22 north to Highway 44 west to 169. From the north it is Highway 169 to Highway 44 east to R-22 south to Highway 6 west to Highway 169. We will update you as soon as it opens back up! Please feel free to share/tag friends. Sheriff Leonard, Deputy Larson, and Dispatcher Barber, participated in the career fair hosted by the West Central Valley Middle School today. We had a great time meeting the students and teachers from the 6th, 7th, and 8th, grade classes. Thanks for inviting the Sheriff's Office.

Dallas County Sheriff's Office swore in our newest Deputy today at the Board of Supervisors meeting this morning. Welcome to the team Deputy Wyatt Westburg!

********Immediate Release******* On 10-6-2018 the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office began receiving complaints from citizens that they had been contacted by a subject over the phone indicating that he was a sergeant with our department. The caller advised them that they had warrants and they needed to go to the jail. This is not our normal procedure and these calls are in no way associated with the Sheriff’s Office. The number that the calls are originating from is 515-954-7511. This phone number appears to be very sophisticated, it lists divisions in our office and even some of our deputy’s names. But it also lists several units that we do not have. If you receive a phone call from this number, please call our dispatch center at 515-993-4567 to report the activity. REMINDER: Do NOT at any time send money in any form, or agree to meet someone at a location, for this scam or for any calls you receive that seem suspicious.

Help our friends at Guthrie County out if you can.

Some updated pictures of that little project we have going on ;-) Looking better everyday!

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is a drop off point for Comfort Bags! See the attached flyer for more information and feel free to reach out to Deputy Hawk if you have any questions.

Did you know? If you have a smart phone, there is an emergency mode on it! On iPhones for instance, you can hit the sleep/wake button 5 times quickly and it will enter SOS Mode. You can call 911 from there, it will notify emergency contacts and also send them your location as well. It can all be set up on your phone ahead of time. You can even enter important medical information in case you can't communicate with EMS. Android has a feature like this as well, we suggest checking with each model for instructions. https://support.apple.com/en-ph/HT208076 It's just another way to help protect yourself. stay safe!

Is there anything better then running or biking outside on our awesome trails here in Dallas County, while jamming out to some music from the Rocky movies? The Sheriff's Office doesn't think so either! If you are going to workout outside, we suggest to NOT wear headphones and try your best to workout in the daylight hours! Your ability to be aware of your surroundings are the number one defense against people who may wish to do you harm. So stay safe, stay vigilant, and if you see something-call us!

Building update! Progress is being made, despite the rain. We now have walls, parts of a roof, and the jail offices are starting. Exciting to walk through and see the space as it develops.

Our 911 services have been resolved, thank you for your patience.
