Jasper County, Iowa August-2018 With the beginning of a new school year, we have had the privilege of presenting ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate) to several local school districts. ALICE empowers employees to make decisions on the best response during a violent or active shooter encounter. ALICE principles can be applied in almost any setting, at school, at home, the workplace, in a mall or restaurant, or in a place of worship. This week Colfax Mingo, Lynnville-Sully, and Sully Christian employees all received the training. Nearly 200 people attended the training sessions. Along with ALICE, we are also presenting the Stop The Bleed training. Stop The Bleed training includes information on how to maintain a victim’s airway, proper control of bleeding, including direct pressure and in some cases, tourniquet application, and finally watching for signs of shock. In many events, citizens are the first responders helping someone who has been injured. Using basic Stop the Bleed instruction, an injured party is more likely to survive with immediate intervention. For more information please contact us at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
