Coralville Police Department News

On this day, two years ago, Officer Justin Martin of the Urbandale Police Department and Sgt. Tony Beminio of the Des Moines Police Department we’re killed in the line of duty. We remember them today and their sacrifices. Thanks to Tony’s son, Cameron Beminio, for stopping by and dropping off cookies for our officers. We also received flowers and more treats in honor of Justin from one of his close friends. #ThinBlueLine #NeverForget

Happy Friday everyone, except Purdue fans. Sorry Boilermakers, you're kind of a threat to a good time. #GoHawks

This #NoShaveNovember officers are donating money to charity in order not to have to shave all of November! We're doing this to raise awareness for men's health issues in our community and to support causes we care about. #StepAwayFromTheSink #PutDownTheShavingCream

Sgt. Barney and Officer Spencer we’re just two of a large group of officers out last night giving candy to trick or treaters! They had a great time and we’re only asked if they were cops for Halloween 8 times. That’s not bad, we’ll take it! Overall, the evening went great, no major issues. Great job Coralville!

Are you interested in learning more about the law enforcement agencies in Johnson County? Do you like tv shows like CSI, Chicago PD, Law and Order, and Criminal Minds? Well, it's nothing like that, mostly. The 2019 Johnson County Citizens Police Academy starts on Monday, January 28th 2019! The application is online (http://www.coralville.org/173/Citizens-Police-Academy) or if you'd rather fill one out in person, stop by the Coralville Police Department! Any questions, hit up Officer Jennings at ajennings@coralville.org. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_rHuDvBOt8

Thanks to whoever anonymously paid for Chief Kron’s lunch today! He went to the Coralville Food Pantry afterwards and donated money, twice the cost the meal. #communitysupported

Remember if your costume has a mask today, take it off before you go into the bank, gas station, etc. Just the mask, not the whole costume. K, thanks. 👍🏼 🤡 🎃

We hope everyone is getting excited for Halloween tomorrow. Trick or Treat in Coralville runs from 5:30-8pm. Our officers will be out and about if you need anything. They may also have candy to hand out, so be sure to wave and say hello! #NoTheseAreNotCostumesYesTheyAreOurUniforms 😑

Today, CPD Lt. Deb Summers was honored as the recipient of the Pat Meyer Vision Award for her work to end domestic violence. The Pat Meyer Vision Award recipient is selected by the Johnson County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She was presented the award by Johnson County Attorney Janet Lyness. Great job Lt. Summers!

Happy Monday everyone! Just a reminder that our Drug Take Back is this coming Saturday, October 27th from 10am until 2pm. As you go through your week, set aside medicines that you no longer use and then bring them to either of the Coralville Walgreens locations (1st Ave or Heartland Dr.) or the police department. You'll be doing your part to get unused meds off the streets and be back in time to watch the Hawkeyes beat Penn State. Lets go!

Next Saturday, October 27th from 10am until 2pm, CPD Officers will be at both Walgreens locations (Heartland Dr. and 1st Ave) as well as at the police department, accepting unused medications as a part of the DEA Drug Take Back Day! Any questions, contact Officer Adam Jennings at ajennings@coralville.org.

Chief Kron and Officer Jennings helped produce a video a few months ago on the construction throughout the city. This is a look behind the scenes. Enjoy!

It’s Boss’s Day 2018 and we’d like to give a shoutout to our boss, Chief Shane Kron! Thanks for your leadership and support of the officers and employees at the police department and all the things you do and have done for the City of Coralville.

Sharing for a friend...😎
