Congratulations to Corporal Slagle, for being awarded a Commendation of Valor and State Trooper Grim, a Chief’s Commendation, for their attention to duty on September 20th where they interrupted an active shooting, engaged in a lengthy vehicle pursuit & apprehended a suspect who was subsequently charged with three counts of attempted murder. Communications Operators Hill and Hyatt also received Letters of Commendation for handling this intense call for service in a safe and professional manner. 🤜🤛 Area agencies, including Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Hiawatha PD and State Patrol, assisted in stopping the pursuit and it was a well coordinated effort by all involved. Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services Recognized for Having the Best Revocation Rates in the State! 👍 The Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services (serving Linn, Johnson, Iowa, Benton, Tama and Jones counties) has recently been recognized for its efforts in keeping its revocation rate the lowest of all eight Iowa correctional districts. Bruce Vander Sanden, Director of the Sixth District DCS, attributes this accomplishment to the dedication of staff, a focus on ensuring clients are in the right treatment classes, and utilization of graduated sanctions and incentives. “It is our priority to properly assess risk and to make sure those we supervise are receiving the right interventions to promote success,” said Vander Sanden. Keep up the good work!
