Would an established statewide Gun Violence Hotline aid student and citizens of Iowa in the reporting of known or suspected persons whose behavior implies threats towards schools or places of employment? Potentially an app that is preloaded on all cell phones and the callers can remain anonymous or provide as much caller information as they are comfortable with? Please share your thoughts. Robbie Lenz created this custom tree topper for our office shortly before his death in January, 2017. It is one of the last pieces of art Robbie created and makes our tree extra special. Our thanks to Robbie for his creation and to his family to seeing that it was delivered to us. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas-Sheriff Greg Beaver and staff of the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office.

The following incident DID NOT occurr in Mitchell County, but it did occurr in a surrounding county. A white male, mid 30's, approximately 5'10" tall, driving a black or blue 2012 or 2013 four door car, staged his car to be broke down along the highway. When a female stopped to offer assistance, he assaulted her. Our office has been notified of a new scam going around. The person received a phone call from their "grandson" stating he had been in an accident and wondered what his grandmother's opinion was on taking the guy to court or settling out of court. The "grandson" then asked to borrow money. The grandmother did not loan him any money. After the phone call the grandmother checked with family and was informed that the real grandson was fine and had not been in an accident.
