Want to learn a little bit more about the Council Bluffs Police Department and the local Criminal Justice System? Join us for the next Citizens Police Academy that starts in January of 2019. Classes will run every Thursday night from January 17th through April 4th. Check out the flyer and see if you meet the requirements to attend the class. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for this Saturday at Walgreens located at 535 East Broadway in Council Bluffs, rain or shine!

Last night, Officers recovered a number of Halloween decorations that were stolen from properties around town. If you had one stolen from your yard last night, call CBPD Record's at 712-328-4716 to give them the details of your missing decoration, see if it matches what we recovered and get the details on how to get it returned back to you!

Identification Technician Laura Rutledge recently tested for her Crime Scene Certification through the International Association for Identification. In order to apply for the exam Laura was required to have a minimum of one year full-time experience in crime scene related activities, and must have completed a minimum of 48 hours of approved crime scene training. This examination is a rigorous three hour, 200 question proctored exam that covers materials from two lengthy forensic textbooks. Laura has obtained her IAI Certified Crime Scene Investigator Certification! Congratulations Laura!!

We still have a handful of adult size short sleeve t-shirts on hand for $10 each. You can stop by and pick one up between 8am and 6pm, Monday through Friday! If you wish to order a special size or style, the last order for those will go in this Friday.

Today, two new Police Chaplains were sworn in by Chief Tim Carmody. Pictured on the far right is Lynn Saathoff. Lynn grew up in Council Bluffs and graduated from TJ High School. Lynn is married with 3 children. Lynn is a member of 1st Christian Church, a former volunteer Firefighter for Carter Lake for 38 years and also worked for Omaha Ambulance for 35 years. Lynn had also recently worked for the Council Bluffs Police Department for 11 years. We welcome Lynn back to the Department as one of our newest Chaplains. Pictured in the middle is Pastor Michael Holl. Michael is married and has 3 children, as well. Michael went to Oklahoma Wesleyan University and is a Pastor at Emanuel Church of the Nazerene. We welcome to the both of you the Council Bluffs Police Department family!
