Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This will be held at the Oakland Community Center in Oakland, Iowa on Saturday October 27th from 10am to 2pm.

It looks like the ‘scammers’ are at it again… We have received calls from citizens reporting that they had been contacted by a member of the Sheriff’s Office stating unless they paid a fine a Deputy would be coming to their residence to arrest them. As usual, any call like this is a scam! The individual calling their intended victim has set it up so that a caller ID will show that the call is coming from a legitimate number. The number is intended to fool the victim into thinking that the Sheriff's Office is placing this call. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call on the phone and demand any type of payment in lieu of arrest. Should you receive a call like this, please report it to your local Law Enforcement Agency. Additionally, if your receive any call that you suspect may be an attempt to defraud you, check with your Local Law Enforcement Agency BEFORE you transfer any funds.
