The Grinnell Police Officers may look a little different this month. The officers are growing beards to raise funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital cancer research. Participating officers donate money for this cause in order to participate in “No-Shave November”. Officers are not normally allowed to grow facial hair due to policy but during this time of year an exception is made to allow the officers to give back to the community while having a little fun. At the beginning of December the officers will go back to the normal uniform policy, but they hope the awareness they raise during this activity will encourage others to make a difference. Community members and businesses who wish to donate to help with the department’s efforts are asked to drop off their donations at the Grinnell Police Department Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
