Thank you for your service. Happy Veterans Day.

Getting to know and serve our community is an important part of being a BPD Officer. Today members of the Advanced Academy got out and volunteered for deserving organizations of their choice. These officers will be hitting the streets soon and serving everyone in our community.

We were happy to be involved with the first installation of the digital reader board at Albertsons on Parkcenter recently. The board is a partnership between Albertsons and Starlite Media, and the Boise Police Crime Prevention Unit was invited to provide a few safety tips on the board for shoppers as they enter the store. The tips included how to avoid being a victim of a scam and the “Lock It, Hide It, Leave It” campaign. Take a look if you’re shopping in the area!

A big shout out to our BPD Neighborhood Contact Officers and members of BANDIT (Boise Area Narcotics Interdiction Team)! Last week, after a lengthy investigation, officers served a search warrant at a home in west Boise which resulted in the arrest of one man and the seizure of almost 5 pounds of meth, some LSD, DMT, and marijuana. To put things into perspective, most people arrested in possession of meth have sugar packet sized amounts. So by comparison, this was a very large amount of meth located which led to felony trafficking charges. The Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Unit is focused on community policing, which allows officers to focus on long-term problems. NCO Officers work with neighbors and community members to solve these problems and increase the quality of life in neighborhoods throughout the City of Boise.

BPD is happy to support our veterans and proud to have BPD Recruit Officer Sandoval join Sen. Crapo and Lt. Governor Little to mark a proclamation for Veteran’s Education. Officer Sandoval is currently in BPD’s Patrol Academy and is also a Marine Corps veteran. Sandoval recently enrolled in a VA program help veterans participating in on the job training using his GI benefits. Thank you Officer Sandoval and all of our veterans for your service.

GIFT CARD SCAM - REAL POLICE REPORT Boise businesses are being hit at least 1-2 times a week with this scam and unfortunately they are losing thousands of dollars. What happens is the scammer pretends to be a business owner or leader in the company and asks an employee via email or phone call to purchase gift cards for the business then send them the card information. While BPD sees multiple reports like this a week, we estimate that there are additional reports that are never called in. Reminders from BPD’s Crime Prevention Unit -Verify the request before sending credit, debit or pre-paid cash card numbers over the phone, email or text. -Many scams involve gift cards in some way, always be cautious about unusual requests to purchase gift cards. -Scammers claiming to collect debts may try to instill fear in potential victims to persuade them to send money. -Legitimate law enforcement agencies would not call individuals and demand money under any circumstances

A beautiful look back at the Boise Veterans Day Parade. Thank you to our Veterans including Staff Sgt. Skyla Child who took these pictures Saturday morning. #veterans #idaho

Thank you for another great Halloween night on Harrison Boise!

🎃👮‍♀️🎃Have fun tonight and stay safe! 🎃👮‍♀️🎃 🍬Stay Together: Young children should always walk with an adult. Older children should stay together in a group. 🍬Bring the light: Use flashlights, glow sticks or reflective tape to make it easier to be seen and do not go to any dark, unlit houses. 🍬Stranger Danger: Tell your kids: Do not go inside a stranger's house. If your older kids are out together, make sure they are with people you know and trust.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Capitol Blvd is closed from Front to Main St. as City of Boise crews work to fix a geothermal break Tuesday morning.

Sometimes a hug and conversation is the best first step.

🎃🍭🎃🍬🎃🍫🎃 Trunk or Treat fun with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. It was a great time with a great group of kids! #HappyHalloween #Foster #wewearcostumeseveryday 🎃🍭🎃🍬🎃🍫🎃

More than a dozen Boise Police officers and civilians were honored to be invited to participate in the 12th annual Hispanic Heritage Youth Leadership Summit. The event brought together approximately 1500 students from southern and southcentral Idaho, and Boise Police officers and employees were happy to speak with just about all of them about the exciting field of law enforcement in the most livable city in the country, Boise.

If you’re interested in serving your community here in Boise and helping officers solve crimes on a daily basis, we have just the job for you! BPD is hiring for the position of Investigations Community Services Specialist…

Lock It, Leave It, Hide It. Over the last few months, officers have responded to and investigated dozens of reports of thefts at Treasure Valley fitness centers. These thefts have led to other serious crimes such as car burglaries and credit/debit card fraud. Officers would like to remind gym enthusiasts of a few tips so that none of us are giving thieves the opportunity to commit a crime… Lock it, leave it, or hide it. Secure your valuable possessions in a locker. Leave your possessions at home if they are not necessary. Hide/lock your possessions in a glove box or car trunk.

Polvorones anyone? Thank you to the Idaho Commission of Hispanic Affairs for this sweet delivery!

We are pretty proud ...... BPD was voted fan favorite at the Junior League of Boise touch a truck event today. We even got an awesome trophy! 🏆

Thank you for a great morning Morley Nelson!

Congrats to Cpl. Sherri Cameron, who recently reached her 20 year anniversary serving the City of Boise!

BPD and Fish and Game are working together to catch and help more of these injured ducks and geese. We are also working to catch the people who shot them with blow darts. We appreciate the tips we have received so far and have another request for the public. BPD and Fish and Game ask you not to try to catch the animals yourself or feed them. Per Fish and Game the birds will be easier for them to catch and help if the public leaves them alone. Thank you for understanding and reporting tips to Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Ada County dispatch at ‪208-377-6790‬. To remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers: at ‪208-343-COPS‬ (2677),, or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for your mobile device.

Get your pumpkins tomorrow and support the Boise Fire Department.

BPD Captain Ron Winegar spoke at the Improving Mental Health and Wellness Conference for First Responders and Families today. As he would tell you, everyone, especially those in high-stress careers should remember: -Having balance in your life and a strong support network can be key in maintaining physical and mental health. -Everyone needs support or a helping hand every once in a while. -It’s important to talk to someone you trust if pressures, incidents, or stress overwhelm your normal coping mechanisms. -Regardless of how bleak things may seem, or how stressful situations may be, time and the support of peers will get you through the tough circumstances.
