Come Work With Us! The Garden City Police Department is hiring for police officer positions. Selected applicants will be subject to written testing, POST Physical Readiness test, extensive background investigation including character, financial, psychological review, fingerprinting and polygraph. Starting salary: $19.94 to $29.75 per hour/DOE and POST certification. Benefits include: • All equipment and uniforms issued upon hire • $1,000 annual clothing allowance • Take home vehicle program ($2,500 value) • 80 hours of training annually • Patrol Officers work 15 shifts per month with 15 days off (12-hour shifts) • Two weeks vacation per year with incremental increases for years of service • Overtime paid bi-weekly • Court appearances paid at minimum of 2.5 hours of overtime • POST certification pay (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced) • 10 paid holidays annually • Paid medical and dental insurance for employee, City allotment for dependents • Eight hours of accrued sick leave per month (accrued up to 1,040 hours) • Idaho PERSI retirement • Deferred compensation match of up to 3%, depending on years of service • Paid gym membership • Three week sabbatical every ten years of service • Birthdays off with pay • Day off with pay for successful completion of Physical Readiness Test • Specialties are compensated at 3% of your salary, not to exceed three at any time Application is available on line at, in person at the Garden City Police Department, 301 E. 50th Street, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday, or via email request to Application deadline is 5:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019. Join us as we keep hundreds of local, homeless, and very low-income children and families stable during the holidays by providing items for 1,000 Holiday care packages filled with hygiene items, shelf-stable food, shoes, socks, underpants, and other items to our community’s most vulnerable families and children. Featuring more than 10 local wineries and breweries, food trucks, art, and kids’ activities galore, Experience Garden City is the first event of its kind in the neighborhood along the Boise River that includes popular new businesses like Push & Pour, Caffe Luciano’s, Telaya Wine Co., Coiled Wines, and the YardArm, plus mainstays like The Sandbar at The Riverside Hotel and The Ranch Club. Coiled Wines, Sandbar, and 34th Street Market will host music and food options throughout the day, and at 8 p.m., everyone is invited to watch the Boise State football game on a giant inflatable screen that will be set up at 34th Street Market, just off the Boise Greenbelt. Date: September 23, 2018 Armed Robbery Suspects GARDEN CITY- On September 23, 2018, at approximately 4:30 AM, Garden City Police were dispatched to an Armed Robbery at 5985 Glenwood (Jackson's Food Store). Two unknown male suspects entered the store wearing hooded sweatshirts pulled tightly over their heads. One suspect displayed a knife and demanded money. The suspects fled the scene on foot west bound along Marigold Street. The Garden City Police Department is asking for the pub­lic's assistance in identifying the suspects pictured below. Anyone with information about the identity of these suspects is encouraged to contact the Garden City Police Department at 208-472-2950 or if they wish to remain anonymous, can call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS (2677).
