Sandpoint Police Department News

Thank you Ponderay Police Department for bringing this to our attention, but how sad is it that it needs to be addressed. This has been in the news far too much this school year across the nation. There is absolutely no excuse for passing a school bus with the stop arm extended and lights flashing. In our opinion the penalty to the driver is not high enough even when innocent lives are not lost. We take this seriously. Please pay attention! This is nothing new.

Bring your little ones to Sandpoint City Hall today for a ghoulishly fun time. Trick or Treat at each department between 3:30 and 4:40

It was definitely our pleasure having this young man stop by today for a visit. Future LEO, Conner

We may be late on posting this, but we need some feel good news and this just can't be shared enough. We couldn't be more proud of our Sandpoint High School student body and the love they are showing. Go Bulldogs!

Bobcat seen on the Long Bridge: Deputy Vogt saw this guy yesterday afternoon and was able to snap this photo of him. Not something we see every day, especially on the Long Bridge entering into Sandpoint! At posting we were not aware of how this was handled or the outcome (later, as we suspected, we heard that deputies called Fish & Game who came and rescued him). This definitely is a great photo to share and an even greater reminder that we are surrounded by a variety of wildlife that occasionally find, or lose their way into or close to town. Thank you Chad for allowing us to share this beautiful photo!
