Happy Halloween, a few tips to help our children have a safe holiday. Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and curbs. Enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully. Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day to watch for our kids. Popular trick-or-treating hours are usually from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. so be especially alert for kids during those hours. Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help drivers see them. Most of all have a Happy and Safe Halloween. Sheriff Anderson

For those of you that have drivers licenses expiring in November and December of 2018 this might be an option (there are some restrictions)for you instead of waiting in line at the Drivers License Office.

Good Morning, As we approach the Holiday Season the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office usually experience more calls of theft in our jurisdiction. Here are a few tips to help minimize crime in our area. 1) Turn on those lights: A light on a motion sensor is an economical way to prevent a thief from approaching your property. 2) Lock those doors: Most vehicle burglaries are crimes of opportunity, If your vehicle is locked, they will likely move on to the next. 3) Remove your valuables from your vehicle at night: We have theft of electronics, guns and wallets etc.. from vehicles that have been left unsecured. 4) Keep a list of your serial numbers: This will help recover your stolen property if its located. 5) Please Call: You know what is normal for your neighborhood and what is out of the ordinary. If you see any suspicious activities don't hesitate to call us at 208-745-9210. Sheriff Anderson and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office would like to wish everyone a safe autumn season.

This test will be taking place this Wednesday October 3, 2018

Good Afternoon, as many of you have endured the long lines at the driver's license office in our county, I thought I would give some insight on the problems. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office employees have been trained to issue Idaho licenses. They have no control, nor do I over the computer programs or the equipment that is being used. This is all under the Idaho Transportation Department. ITD has a new vendor and we have had nothing but problems with the systems, and we have had minimal to no support from ITD . Thank you to the Jefferson County citizens that brought our employees of the drivers license department a refreshing treat. It is much appreciated. They have continued to work diligently and professionally throughout these exhausting delays. Most every county in Idaho is having the same problems.

Another fun summer BBQ and softball game with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Rigby Police Department and Central Fire!!

**Driver's License Office Closure Dates** Good Afternoon, Jefferson County Driver's License Office will be closed on Wednesday, August 8th for Training Purposes. Neighboring Counties will be open on Wednesday, August 8th to assist you with your licensing needs. All County Driver's License offices will be closed statewide on August 9th & 10th for system upgrades. Idaho’s computer system for issuing driver’s licenses and identification cards will upgrade this month from a 1980s mainframe to a more modern system. To make this transition, all county sheriff’s DMV offices that issue driver’s licenses and identification cards, will be closed Thursday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 10. County assessor’s offices will remain open to issue vehicle registrations and titles. Disability placards will not be available during the two-day closure. County sheriff’s DMV offices will reopen on Monday, Aug. 13, however customers should anticipate delays while employees adjust to the new system. The ITD DMV Headquarters office in Boise will also be closed to the public Aug. 9-10. The office assists the public through telephone calls and emails with driving records, driver’s license extensions and reinstatement fees. This is the second phase of a three-phase project to modernize the state’s DMV system. In 2017, the first phase was completed when permanent disability placards became available at the county assessor’s offices rather than at the DMV headquarters in Boise to better serve customers. The third phase will move vehicle registrations and title records from the mainframe computer next year.

Thank you to all of our Firefighters and the effort they put forth during this intense fire season.

Construction at Rigby intersection to begin Monday RIGBY – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will begin construction at the Stockham Blvd. and US-20B/Farnsworth Way intersection on Monday, July 30. ITD will be converting the current intersection into a roundabout for enhanced safety, to improve traffic flow, and to reduce congestion. Construction will be completed by the end of November. Flaggers will be used to safely guide traffic during construction when the intersection is reduced to one lane operations. Business access and connectivity will be maintained throughout the project duration. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and be prepared for traffic delays.

Congratulations to our Dispatchers, Stephanie and Lana, on Graduating from the POST Dispatch Academy today!!
