The county wide burn ban has been lifted. Midvale Fire District will be keeping their burn ban in effect until October 20th. Cambridge Fire District will allow burning with permission from the Cambridge Fire Chief. Weiser Rural Fire will still require a permit to burn until October 20th. Please check with the fire department in your district before burning to make sure they have no other requirements.

Phones are working again.

Even though the weather has turned cooler, the Washington County Burn Ban is still in effect. We have not had a rain shower for quite a while and conditions are extremely dry. Please be patient until the burn ban is lifted. Thanks

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. Please make sure your address is easily visible in case of an emergency!

Drivers license will open back up at 2:00 pm today. Please be patient as we will be working with a new system and it might take longer to issue a drivers license. Sheriff Thomas

Driver's license is still down in Washington County. ITD is beta testing the new system in some of the larger counties. I will advise if and when we are back up. Again, I apologize for any inconveniences this is causing.

Idaho DMV has provided extension on expired or expiring drivers licenses.

First off I would like to apologize to everyone who has been affected by the outages involving driver's license. I know this has been frustrating for everyone including my office and sheriff offices throughout the state. ITD sent out a notice yesterday stating that all driver's license offices in the state will be down again today (Wednesday) while they work on addressing the problem. We have been told that ITD has a solution in place that will allow us to provide drivers license services starting Thursday. We hope this alleviates any further outages and we can continue to provide this service to the citizens in Idaho. Sheriff Matt Thomas

Just for everyone's information if you see this coming from the burned area.

All county driver's license offices will be closed August 9 and 10, 2018 to upgrade the states computer system.

We are searching for the owner of this dog. The dog has been seen running at large in the Loafer Lane, E Indianhead and E Park areas of Weiser. If you have any information, please contact Washington County Sheriff's Dispatch at 208-414-2121

We can't thank the local fire departments enough. Midvale Fire, Weiser Rural Fire, Weiser City Fire, Cambridge Fire did an outstanding job fighting this fire. No homes were lost speaks volumes to how hard everyone worked on this fire. Brian Graham, thank you for running the show at Incident Command. To everyone affected by the fire thank you for your patience with the road closers and evacuations. We know this was stressful on all of you.
