Chicago Ridge Police Department News

Thank you to all who have served. 🇺🇸 ❤️

Please join us for our 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting! The tree lighting will take place on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the Chicago Ridge Village Hall. This year is bigger and better than ever before! In addition to the Iceless Skating Rink from 5 pm-9 pm (skates will be provided or you can bring your own), there will be a Winter Wonderland PhotoScape from 5 pm-9 pm to commemorate this fun family event, Face Painting will be available from 5 pm-6:30 pm, Finley Junior High School band and choir will be helping us get into the holiday spirit, and there will be crafts and refreshments too! We even received word that we might get a visit from the big man in the red suit too! You won't want to miss this fun event!! In the season of giving, please consider bringing a new toy to donate to the 4th Annual Officer Steven Smith Toy Drive.

And here it comes ... Our favorite "S" word ... SNOW ...😭😭 Please remember the Village's ordinance for street parking after a snowfall -- Sec. 50-175. - Parking during snow removal. It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on any public street in the village at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of two inches or more has occurred, unless the snow has been plowed or otherwise removed from the street.

It's that time of year again ... The Chicago Ridge Police Department will be collecting for the annual "Steven Smith Toy Drive". Drop off boxes located at the Police Department, Village Hall, and Library.

Fall back tonight!!

From our Police Department..... "When you wear DIFFERENT uniforms, but play for the SAME team ... No matter the PATCH, we are all still FAMILY! Thank you to the men in RED for quickly putting out the house fire on Oxford and Washington this afternoon. The Chicago Ridge Fire Department had assistance from multiples agencies - North Palos FD, Burbank FD, Bedford Park FD, Bridgeview FD, and Oak Lawn FD. Officer Kaspar and Officer Jenen assisted the home owner in removing their 2 dogs. After the fire was extinguished their 2 cats were found safe." Thank you to both the Chicago Ridge Fire Department and Chicago Ridge Police Department for their team efforts!!

Have a safe and spooky Halloween 🎃 👻 🎃

This year's Halloween Trick or Treating hours for Wednesday, October 31st are from 3 pm to 7 pm. Here are some tips for making this Halloween safe and fun for all: ~Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors. Since masks can sometimes obstruct a child’s vision, try non-toxic face paint and makeup whenever possible. ~Have kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers. ~Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, remind them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups. ~When your kids get home, check all treats to make sure they're sealed. Throw out candy with torn packages or holes in the packages, spoiled items, and any homemade treats that haven't been made by someone you know. ~Always report any suspicious or criminal activity to the Chicago Ridge Police Department. Have a safe and spooky Halloween!
