On this Veterans Day, the Countryside Police Department would like to express our deep gratitude and respect for the service and sacrifices of those that have served or are serving our country in the Armed Forces. We had a great time doing our annual Halloween tour at the Police Department and City Hall with the students from Ideal School!!! We can't wait to do it again next year!!!

Update: The truck has been removed and all traffic lanes are now open. Traffic Alert: A disabled truck has both lanes of southbound East Avenue blocked at 55th Street. Please avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

Officer Venem is at the Pleasantview Fire Protection District as part of their annual Safety Day event today until 1pm. Make sure to stop by the Pleasantview FD headquarters at 1970 Plainfield road to check out this awesome event!!!

The Countryside Police Department is collecting pop tops for the Kelli Joy Memorial Fund’s “Pop Tops for Joy” program supporting the Loyola Ronald McDonald House. We are currently competing with 4 other local police departments to see who can collect the most pop tops to donate at the “2018 Run for Kelli” being held this Sunday, September 30, 2018!!! If you have a collection of pop tops that you would like to donate, please drop the tops off at the Countryside Police Department, 5550 East Avenue or contact us at 708-352-2171 so we can make arrangements to pick them up from you!!!

Traffic Information: If you are driving through the area this weekend, the Illinois Tollway anticipates closing the ramp from 75th Street to southbound I-294 at 7pm on Saturday, September 22nd due to the on-going construction being done on I-294. The ramp is expected to be opened again at noon on Sunday, September 23rd.

There has been an increase in motor vehicle burglaries targeting cars that are parked at fitness and recreation facilities. If possible, please remove valuables from your vehicle when parking. If you must leave any valuables in your car, do your best to hide them or secure them in the trunk. If you observe any suspicious behavior, such as those listed in the shared post, please don't hesitate to call '911'.

*Update* The Illinois Department of Transportation has completed the cleanup and the road is now open to traffic. *Traffic Advisory* Portions of southbound East Avenue between Plainfield Road and Joliet Road are closed due to hazardous conditions from oil that leaked on to the roadway from a vehicle. We will advise when the road has been cleaned and opened back up to traffic.
