I just received information that the gold star 500 bicycle ride will be stopping in Neoga tomorrow around 10am at the Neoga american legion. This is a bicycle ride to honor fallen service members from Illinois. Chief Schabbing participate in a ride similar to this every year to honor fallen law enforcement. One of the best parts of the ride is seeing the support of the communities. I encourage anyone that is available to come out and cheer them on as they come into town and thank them for what they are doing. They will be coming from the north on route 45. https://www.facebook.com/Goldstar500/

On Tuesday July 10 the Neoga Police department arrested a 23 year old Charleston woman on the charges of residential burglary, and theft over $500. The charges alledge that the female entered a residence without authority and proceeded to commit a theft of items totaling more than $500. The female was taken to Cumberland County jail.

In March Chief Schabbing and High School Principal Kevin Haarman attended the ALICE instructor training. This allows us to teach local business's, schools, and other orginizations or citizens about their how to respond during and active shooter situation. This is the same program we are implementing at the schools. I have been considering holding a public training for anyone interested. This would be great for anyone to know their options if they are at the mall, a concert or any where else and an active aggressor event happens. During this training we would go over the ALICE system and answer any questions. At the end we would field any question or concerns as it relates to implementing this system at the schools and teaching the kids. If you would be interested please vote below.

Congratulations to the Neoga High School class of 2018 and good luck with your future endeavors.

Congratulations and good luck to all the Neoga athletes who have qualified and are competing at the state track and field.

On March 24th the Neoga Police Department in conjunction with the Neoga Fire Department and Ambulance hosted a class for first-responders from various police, fire, and EMS agencies from the region. Over 50 participants were on hand. The interactive course was Coordinated Response to Active Aggressor Mass Casualty Events. In the class, students participated in hands-on simulations of mass triage, as well as treatment and extraction of victims involved in a simulated shooting. A special thanks is extended to the Neoga School District for allowing the use of their building and as well as to members of the Coles County CRT team for providing their time, knowdge, and equipment to aid in the class. All of us at Neoga PD and Neoga Fire/EMS hope that we never have to use this training. However, we are taking a continual, pro active approach to ensure that if a situation does arise that we are prepared to deal with it in a coordinated and professional manner.

***TRAINING NOTIFICATION*** Local law enforcement and emergency service agencies will be conducting training at Neoga Jr/Sr High school today. Expect to see emergency vehicles at the school. There is no emergency so please do not call dispatch and ask them what is going on. Thank you.

On Janurary 23, Officers of the Neoga Police department took part in naloxone (narcan) training. This training provides officers with naloxone and the knowledge to recognize an opioid over dose and the ability to apply naloxone. This allows officers to possibly reverse an over dose and possibly save a life. We would like to urge those who think they may have an opioid addiction to seek help before it's too late. We would like to thank Cumberland County health department for facilitating this training.

***NO SCHOOL*** Now who wants to build a snowman???

All of us at Neoga pd want to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. We want to remind you to be safe in your travels and enjoy the time with loved ones. If you see one of the officers out this week be sure to stop by and say hi. I bought some goodies for the kids, but I suppose the adults can have some too.

Just received a call from publishers clearing house that I won, $3.3million and a new Mercedes. All I have to do is send them $4.5million. He ended up cussing at me and hanging up. Not very professional. Please remind loved ones that this is a scam and not to fall for it.

If any one is planning to travel south tonight or tomorrow I would urge you not to use I-57. I was assisting state police todat near our exits and traffic was terrible. There were several times in the short time we were there that bad accidents almost occurred.
