In preparation for Homecoming this weekend, the NIU Police Department is making several adjustments we want our fellow Huskies to be aware of: 1. There will be more police on and around campus, including our partner agencies. This is for your safety. Please stop any of these officers if you need assistance 2. Access Control will begin at 9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and guest sign in will begin at that time. 3. Much of West Campus will be a pedestrian only zone, as noted on this map. Vehicles, including Uber and food delivery drivers will not be allowed past the barricades. This will occur on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Ride share drivers picking up at New Hall will need to pick up at the intersection of Grant Drive East and Grant Drive North Please contact us at 815-753-1212 with any questions

On #Worldmentalhealthday , we encourage our Fellow Huskies to watch out for each other and contact us if we can help. Many of our officers have special mental health training, called Crisis Intervention Training and proudly wear this pin to symbolize their commitment to helping others.

NIU PD now has a Safe Selling Zone set up at our Dispatch Center, next to Health Services. If you bought something online and need a safe place to complete the transaction, please stop in!

A national alert test for both WEA (Wireless Emergency Alert) and EAS (Emergency Alert System) capabilities will take place at 1:18 CST, Thursday, Oct. 3. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will issue a Nationwide Wireless Emergency Alert testing the Presidential WEA capabilities. The test message will be available to all compatible cell phones. Please note, some older cell phones may not receive the test message. The nationwide WEA test will be followed by a nationwide EAS test approximately two minutes after the WEA is issued.
