A message from the Chief of Police: On behalf of the entire Benedictine University Police Department and in the name of all that National Night Out represents, I would like to personally express my gratitude for your participation in our 4th annual national night Out. It is admirable that in the state of our current economy, with the trends of our social environment, and in the face of the public you could stand with us to show a united front for positive community partnerships. Moving forward, I challenge you to be a representative of peace, positivity, and partner for community growth. Together, we can keep moving our neighborhoods forward one handshake, one smile, and one introduction at a time. My sincere thanks for spending your night with us and we hope to have your support again for our 5th annual National Night Out on Tuesday August 7th, 2018. Derek L. Ferguson, Chief of Police Benedictine University Police Department

This month we want to recognize those who struggle with illnesses that may lead to suicide and become aware of the hardship this has on a family. If you or someone you know is struggling from depression, grief, or anxiety, please under- stand you are not alone. We have a wonderful Counseling Center here in the Krasa Student Center, room 112. The Counseling Center has many programs available to assist you in many ways. To make an appointment call 630.829.1800. You can also contact the University Police at 630.829.6666, as well as DuPage County Crisis Intervention Unit at 630.627.1700.

As many of you have heard, our Records Manager/Dispatch Supervisor Amanda Warren has left the department to focus on her family. There is an obvious void in our office. Along with her titled roles, she also boosted moral, was a "lazer focused" worker, and more importantly, made both the current and former Chiefs look smarter than they actually are. Good luck in your future endeavors! .

CONGRATULATIONS to Dispatcher Claude Oretga for winning the award for ‘Innovation and Teamwork’ from G4S. Claude has spent many hours assisting BU Police Officers and BU staff with his tech finesse. “GOOD JOB CLAUDE, and WELL DONE”. If you happen to pass or stop by the Police Station please give a wavy to one of the many who cares about our safety.
