NEWS RELEASE The Hamilton Street Department reports that in the event of impending ice storm, if Broadway Street hill and Main Street hill get to icy, they will be closed to thru traffic. Residents in that area will still have access to their homes. Questions please call City Hall at 217-847-2936

TOY DRIVE taking place at Dollar General to help the children in Hamilton to have a great Christmas.

INFORMATION: Warsaw Road will be closed on Tuesday November 29th & Wednesday November 30th, between Windy Hills Road and 680 East to do culvert replacement/repairs.

With Halloween fast approaching, the Hamilton Police Department would like to remind everyone to stay safe and enjoy this fun time of year. Remember to wear bright clothing and or reflective clothing. If you have any concerns about safety feel free to contact the office. We are working closely with the Hamilton School District to ensure each child has a fun and memorable Halloween.

The Hamilton Illinois Police Department is requesting help in locating Joseph Krumey age 26. Krumey is wanted on a Felony Warrant through the State of Illinois for Escape and Possession of Methamphetamine. Krumey ran away from officers during a traffic stop. Krumey’s last known address was in Keokuk Iowa but has ties to the Clark County Missouri area. If you see or know Krumey’s whereabouts you are encouraged to contact your local law enforcement office. Reminder that today 9-9-16 Broadway Street will be closed at 7th Street to 12th Street at 4:00 p.m. for the Homecoming Parade.

An IRS phone scam is going around, again. A caller with an accented voice claims to be an officer with the Hamilton Police Department. DO NOT release any information to these callers! The Hamilton Police Department does not collect taxes for the IRS. NO local law enforcement agency collects taxes for the IRS.

There will be a police escort to the Hamilton High school today at 3:30 pm to honor the State Champion wrestler Will Lucie and 4th place state finisher Devin Beaston. They will be coming from Sullivan Auctioneers and ending at the high school. Job well done young men.

REMEMBER to check your vehicle registration. The State of Illinois is not sending reminders out when your registration will expire.

UPDATE!!! The City of Hamilton's storm sirens have been repaired and are operational again. The monthly test will be on Monday April 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. weather permitting.

With prom fast approaching, the Hamilton Police Department took part in one of this years promposals. A student from the high school asked if the police department would assist him in asking his date to the prom this year. We did with pride and honor. The promposal is a different and fun way to ask your date to the prom. With this request, the police department is promoting a safe and fun prom.

Reminder with the warmer weather here, everyone will be burning old leaves and brush. You CAN only burn yard waste within the city limits. Yard waste consists of leaves, grass clippings and branches. You CAN NOT burn trash, lumber, cardboard or anything else unless it is yard waste. All fires must be out by 6pm each night and all fires must be supervised at all times. Please remember this when burning your yard waste. Thank you for helping keep the city safe.

The Hamilton Police Department is accepting applications for POLICE PATROLMAN between March 04, and March 30, 2015. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, and have completed a High School Education. Today, the Hamilton Police Department along with other local law enforcement agencies, conducted a search of the Hamilton Junior/Senior High buildings. We are proud to report that no illegal substances were discovered. Great job to all the kids, staff and administration of the Hamilton School District.

SCAM ALERT!!!! Several residents have reported that they have received calls from the IRS. The caller who represents themselves as an agent with the IRS calls and gives a case number and amount owed. That's when the caller demands payment and threatens to call local police to make an arrest. The IRS does NOT conduct business this way. The people committing the scam are outside the United States and once the money is sent, there is little chance of recovering the funds. Remember, NEVER give out your private information or send money to a caller you don't know.
