New JCSO correctional office receives the academic award at the correctional officer academy. Great Job Nicole!! This is a true testament of your dedication to the law enforcement profession. Education gives you the confidence to make a decision and decision making is a key to effective law enforcement.

Weather advisory: The national weather service is advising of the likelihood for flash flooding this weekend. Please be careful and avoid driving into water over the roadway.

Press Release: All three escapees from the Illinois Youth Center at Pere Marquette in Grafton, are in custody. The stolen vehicle from Grafton has been recovered. This is still an ongoing investigation. I want to thank the Illinois State Police, Grafton Police Department and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office for their help with this incident.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN TODAY!! At 11:30 a.m., members of the Jersey County Sheriff's Office and Jerseyville Police Department will be participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run. We will be running south on State St. from Fairgrounds Ave. to the parking lot of Shop n' Save. Please come out and support Special Olympics and us as we run.

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

The coldest wind chills will occur on Sunday evening and Monday morning when they will fall below 25 degrees below zero at times. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin. * WHERE...Parts of central, east central and northeast Missouri as well as west central Illinois. * WHEN...For the Wind Chill Warning, from 9 PM Sunday to noon CST Monday. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to 9 PM CST Sunday, and from noon Monday to noon CST Tuesday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values.
