Thank you Hawthorn Middle School South for honoring Lake County Veterans! Student Council President Erick Herrera, Principal Robert Natale, School Board President Sonali Patil, and Vernon Hills Mayor Roger Byrne recently honored veterans at HMS by providing breakfast, and having the school choir and orchestra perform. Students were paired up with veterans and conducted interviews to learn about the service histories of those in attendance. Happy Veterans Day! #ThankVeterans #ThankfulForGreatSchools

Jim Reynolds is a bugler who plays taps at local veterans services and funerals as a local volunteer representative with Bugles Across America. He Is a veteran of the US Navy and served in Vietn️am. He also volunteers his time for Lake County as an Amateur (Ham) Radio Operator with R.A.C.E.S. and the Lake County Emergency Management Agency. We learned a great deal from Pat’s experience as a Chicago Police Officer and social & technology entrepreneur. Pat shared techniques to successfully accelerate organizational performance in law-enforcement.

***Media Release*** Lake County Sheriff’s Office Announces Results of Halloween Impaired Driving and Seat Belt Enforcement Patrols The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of the 5-day Halloween Impaired Driving and Seat Belt Enforcement patrols. Results included 1 impaired driving arrest, 67 seat belt citations and 1 warrant arrest. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the Illinois Halloween Impaired Driving and Seat Belt Enforcement Patrols. The law enforcement campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.

Thank you to the organizers of the 13th Annual Corporate Adult Community Spelling Bee held at North Point Church in Winthrop Harbor on November 1. We enjoyed the opportunity and look forward to next year’s 14th Annual Spelling Bee! Sheriff Curran and his expert spellers joined over a dozen of spelling groups in the competition. Proceeds benefit the Coalition for Healthy Communities, a collaborative effort to positively impact health, wellness and social issues in Beach Park, Winthrop Harbor and Zion.
