Just a friendly reminder, seasonal parking restrictions begin tonight, November 1st and stay in effect through April 1st. § 72.13 ALL-NIGHT PARKING. It shall be unlawful to park a motor vehicle and leave the same unattended in or along the sides of any street or parkway in the village at any time from November 1 through April 1 of each year between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. § 72.15 SNOW REMOVAL. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on any public street in the village at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of two inches or more has occurred. We often get calls asking for permission to park on the street overnight after November 1st. Please understand that we can not give permission for anyone to violate a local ordinance. Thank you for your understanding!

Press Release For Immediate Release: 09/15/2018 Contact: Detective Sergeant Willets – (847) 872-2131 ext. 2512 – cwillets@whpd.org Theft Under $500: On 09/14/2018, Officers were dispatched to a local business establishment within the 900 block of Sheridan Road related to a theft under $500.00 USD. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) took a black with yellow lettering Schwinn Mountain Bicycle. A witness advised the suspect was a male wearing a “Blue hoody” and departed westbound on 9th Street with the mountain bicycle. The value of the theft was estimated at approximately $100 USD. This incident is pending further investigation. Domestic Battery: On 09/09/2018, Officers were dispatched within the 1000 block of South Park Avenue related to a report of a domestic battery. After further investigation and field interviews conducted by the Officer’s; the facts of the case was later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney’s Office which resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant for Marcus T. Porchia. 42, of Winthrop Harbor on Domestic Battery (felony enhanced) and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Aggravated Robbery Arrest Warrant: On 08/12/2018, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched to a local business establishment within the 800 block of Sheridan Road related to a 911 call to report an armed robbery. Upon Officer’s arrival, the employee advised a subject entered their business while displaying a handgun and subsequently seized approximately $400.00 USD from the cash register and additionally took approximately $25.00 USD from a customer who had just entered the business. After further investigation conducted by detectives the facts of this case were later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney’s Office which resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant for Aaron J. Primer, 28, of Kenosha, Wisconsin on two counts of Aggravated Robbery. Coffee with a COP: The Winthrop Harbor Police Department will be participating with the National Coffee with a Cop Day on 10/03/2018, from 7:00 a.m., through 11:00 a.m. at He Brews Coffee Shop, 211 Sheridan Road, Village of Winthrop Harbor. “Coffee with a COP” is an agenda free informal conversation with the public and members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department where you can meet with the police officers to ask questions, voice your concerns, share small talk, and to learn more about your police department. Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together over coffee to discuss issues and learn more about each other. “Building relationships, One Cup at a Time.” Note: Any person charged with an offense has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law.
