Parent/Guardians, The safety and security of staff and students is our top priority. The district was made aware of a Facebook post alleging threats toward schools throughout central Illinois. In communications with the Macoupin County Sheriff's Department, it has been confirmed that the post originated in Springfield, Ohio and is not a credible threat to Southwestern High School or Middle School. The FBI is now handling the situation. However, we consider any threat a serious matter, therefore, the district and law enforcement coordinated to have extra security in place this morning. Mark B.
