Scammers have been busy the past few days. We have received numerous complaints from citizens who have received an automated phone message from someone claiming to be from the IRS and threatening the call receiver's arrest if they don't respond. We can assure you these callers are NOT from the IRS. If ever in doubt about any calls you receive don't hesitate to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 548 2141.

The Marion County Sheriffs' Office Merit Board is currently in the process of updating the eligibility list for potential Deputy and Correctional positions with the Marion County Sheriffs' Office. Applicants are encouraged to prepare now for the power test as it will be given in the near future. Applications may be picked up at the Marion County Sheriffs' Office located at 204 N. Washington St. Salem, IL. 62881 and must be returned by Friday, September 21, 2018 to be considered for employment.

The male subject in these pictures is a person of interest in the theft of a motor vehicle from rural Centralia, IL, on July 22, 2018. If anyone has any information regarding this incident or suspect please call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 618 548 2141 option #1.

This morning, approx 12 cyclists from different police agencies through out Illinois road through Carlyle on their way to Chicago. They started this journey from Metropolis, Illinois. Entry year they make this trek in honor of fallen police officers from the previous year. During their short stop in Carlyle, they made a dedication to our fallen Officer, Adam Conrad. We want to extend a deep and sincere THANK YOU, to these men and women, for their time and dedication to honoring our fallen brothers and sisters and wish them safe travels.
