For the first time, our men and women in blue have added pink to our uniforms! Officers are proudly displaying a pink variation of our patch to support breast cancer awareness this October 👮‍♀️🎗️ Below are statistics from the American Cancer Society: -About 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. -More women are diagnosed with breast cancer than any other cancer, excluding skin cancer. -Finding breast cancer early and getting cancer treatment are the most important strategies to prevent deaths from breast cancer. We hope to call greater attention to the courageous battle being fought by millions of women and their families to defeat breast cancer. #lithpd #lakeinthehillspd #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #PinkPatch

It's October 3rd! That means beginning at 1:18 p.m. today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system. Share these 3 facts with your friends and family so they know what to expect this afternoon: 1⃣ You’ll get a message on your phone with a tone & vibration. This is NOT a text and your phone number is NOT shared with anyone. 2⃣ The test is for a Presidential Alert, a type of Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) only used for major emergencies that affect the entire country. This is the national version of WEA messages like AMBER & weather alerts from your local agencies. 3⃣ You will also see/hear a test message on your TV & radio expected to last approximately one minute. All messages will start with “THIS IS A TEST” and end with “No action is needed.” For more information about the test please visit: https://www.fema.gov/emergency-alert-test

⚠️📲 Please remember that this Wednesday, October 3rd, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The WEA portion of the test commences at 1:18 p.m. and the EAS portion follows at 1:20 p.m. The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed. The test will be administered to various types of communications devices, including television, radio, cellphones and smartphones. All messages will start with the text "THIS IS A TEST" and may have the header "Presidential Alert." No action is required. For more information about the test please visit: https://www.fema.gov/emergency-alert-test

We are seeking the public’s help in identifying four subjects who placed a large rock in the roadway in the area of Hiawatha Drive & Pocahontas Trail in the early morning hours (shortly after midnight) on Sunday, September 16th. We were responding to a critical medical emergency and one of our squad cars struck the boulder. The situation could have been much worse and we are thankful that the responding officer was not hurt. We realize that the activity in the video is shown at a distance and is therefore hard to see, but we hope that anyone with information will come forward. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Lake in the Hills Police Department through one of the following methods: (1) call our non-emergency line at (847) 658-5676, (2) text TIP LITHPD to 888777, or (3) submit an anonymous tip online at: https://lith.org/police/page/anonymous-crime-tipping.
