*********UPDATE: Due to a complaint from a resident the 3 solicitors have had their permits revoked and were asked to leave the Village********* Three (3) of the same solicitors from "Optimus Commerce Group/Nordiac Energy" have been re-registered with the police department and are in town today, 5/25/18.

There will be either two (2) or as many as four (4) men soliciting from a company, "Optimus Commerce Group/Nordiac Energy" in town today, 5/24/18, and they have been registered with the police department and have had the ordinance explained to them. All four men WILL be wearing permit badges. The police department does not verify the business ventures of companies that come to town to solicit, just the individuals soliciting. This means that we only check to see if any of the applicants have any warrants for their arrest and/or their driving privileges are valid (if they will be/are driving). Please use caution if you choose to speak with any solicitors and remember if something sounds too good to be true it usually is and don't commit to anything you don't feel comfortable with. Soliciting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you want to research a company you can use the http://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/ (or US Attorney General) or the https://www.bbb.org/en/us. ******UPDATE: Owner has been found and the dog was returned! Thank you for all that shared our post and spread the word!****** This dog was just brought to the police department. If anyone knows this dog or it's owner please call the police department at 217-972-9941. This dog was said to be running with an older dog Southeast of Lovington Al Best Drive/Rt. 133.

Today our department received a complaint of a IRS phone scam. We want to remind residents especially during the holidays of telephone scams. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it usually is or in this particular scam they are trying to get you to either send money or give them your personal information! We recommend you hang up immediately and not give them any personal information (i.e. social security numbers, bank accounts, etc.) and either call the police or contact the Illinois Attorney Generals website http://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/ to file a complaint. Please don't hesitate to call with any questions/concerns.
