Disorderly Conduct Arrest On the afternoon of 10/23/18, the Ogle County State's Attorney's Office received a phone call in which the caller made threatening statements regarding employees of the Judicial Center, specifically the State's Attorney's Office and Judges. Additional security measures where enacted on the morning of 10/24/18 until the caller could be identified and located. At approx. 9:35 am, Jason L. Churchill, age 50 of Mount Morris, was taken into custody. Churchill was subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Update: Southbound traffic through this area is temporarily open. IL Rt 2 is currently closed between Luther Dr and Kennedy Hill due to a traffic accident. Expect closure of road for some time while ComEd repairs downed power lines.

Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault Arrest On 10/9/18 at approx. 2:00 PM, Ogle County Sheriff's Detectives arrested Robert A. Hardt, age 39 of Davis Junction, for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class X Felony. The arrest stems from an investigation which began in September of 2018 in which Hardt is alleged to have sexual contact with a minor. Hardt was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held without bond. Hardt appeared in court on 10/10/18 and his bond was set at $250,000, 10% applies.

Water threatens IL-2 west of Byron. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Safety message...If you encounter a flooded roadway...turn around and find an alternate route.

The No Wake Ordinance on the Rock River has been put into effect until further notice. While travel is not restricted speeds may not exceed 5 mph. The National Weather Service forecast predicts the Rock River in Ogle County to enter flood stage tomorrow 10/06/2018 and crest at 15.5 feet Monday evening 10/09/2018. The river is expected to rise another 3.5 feet above current river levels. During the “Action” Stage property owners in low laying areas should prepare to move to higher ground.

Daysville Rd. is open but only a single lane in the area south of Lighthouse Rd. Per ComEd repairs may take 24 hours to complete. Daysville Rd south of Lighthouse Rd is currently closed. The “No Wake” ordinance has been lifted for the Rock River in Ogle County. Although the ordinance has been lifted boaters should use caution as the flow rates and river levels are higher then normal.

On Saturday 09/08/2018 at approximately 11:45p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at 502 W. Buffalo St. in Polo. Polo Fire Protection District arrived on scene and observed a fully engulfed attached garage fire with significant smoke inside the residence. During the search of the residence fire personnel located the only occupant of the house, Keith E. Fredricks 81, deceased. Polo Fire Protection District requested a 2nd Alarm with mutual aid from Mt. Morris, Dixon City, Milledgeville, Dixon Rural, Advance Ambulance, Lanark, Forreston, and Oregon Fire Districts. At the request of the Polo Police Department, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation. The investigation continues and no additional information will be released at this time.

Based on the current National Weather Service river level predictions Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle will implement the NO WAKE ordinance effective immediately.
