A white male, Chris L Chartrand, Jr DOB 08/31/1998 was taken into custody for suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He is currently being held at the St. Clair County jail pending formal charges and further investigation. Charges are also pending in Missouri for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle. The East Carondelet Police Department would like to thank the Dupo Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.

ECPD would like to thank the U.S. Marshall's Service and the Dupo Police Department for assistance with the following warrant arrests that occurred on Tuesday, October 9th 2018 in the 200 Block of South 8th Street. Jennifer R Babb (Calvert), a 35 year old white female Christopher L Chartrand, Sr, a 37 year old white male Both individuals had outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

On Friday September 21st, Jennifer R Babb (Calvert), a 35 year old white female, was arrested by the East Carondelet Police Department and charged with Burglary . She was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and booked. She is being held on an $80,000.00 bond set by the Honorable Judge Clay.

Howard D. "Skip" Mize AUGUST 23, 1954 – APRIL 10, 2018 Chief Howard “Skip” Mize, age 63, of Caseyville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Skip was born August 23, 1954 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Henry Mize and Mary Mize (nee Pothanus). In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike (Gale) Bell, and his godson Richard Hester. Skip married Cindy Mize (nee Bell), the love of his life, on October 27, 1978. Skip proudly served his country in the United States Army. As a part of his 30 years in Law Enforcement, he was Chief of Police for Shiloh and East Cardonelet. Skip retired from Lenzeburg police department. He was a member of Convent Worship Center, Backstoppers, and St. Clair County Deputy Reserves. He enjoyed being a HAM radio operator, hunting, fishing, and flea markets. Skip is survived by his wife Cindy; godchildren, Stepenie Hester, Kaliegh Regan, Mya Regan, Jimmy Fowler, Kyle Regan, and Jaxxon Hester; brother-in-law, Gerald (Wanda) Bell and Ronnie (Maryann) Bell Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Backstoppers, St. Jude’s, or donors choice. Additional condolences may be offered online at LakeViewFuneralHm.com. Services will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. In honor his many years of service, his wife Cindy has invited all Law Enforcement Officers past and present to attend a private hour of visitation from 1500 to 1600 hours, with the public invited for visitation from 1600 to 1900 hours with service on site at 1900 hours. First Responder walkthrough is expected at about 1815 hours with honors to follow the service.

William J. Kuni, white male, DOB 10/29/91, was arrested during a traffic stop on October 12th, 2017 for possession of methamphetamine with intent, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, and drug paraphernalia. Kuni was arraigned by Honorable Judge Gormic who issued a warrant with bond set at $250,000.00. Kuni is being held at the St. Clair County jail.

Press Release: On the morning of Friday July 28th at 1:55 AM officers of the East Carondelet Police Department encountered a subject on a bicycle, later identified as Antoine R Branigan, 30 year old black male, riding on the roadway head-on into traffic. Officers attempted to make contact with the Mr. Branigan to inform him that he was in violation of Illinois Vehicle Code and to obtain his identification. Mr. Branigan allegedly became combative with the officers, spit on them, and resisted arrest. During the search subsequent to arrest, officers found identification, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine in Mr. Branigan's possession. Upon booking into the St. Clair County Jail Mr. Branigan also allegedly spit on and bit one of the corrections officers. Mr. Branigan is currently being held at St. Clair County Jail on a warrant for Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer Possession of Methamphetamine Resisting a Peace Officer Bail is set at $100,000.00
