Howard D. "Skip" Mize
AUGUST 23, 1954 – APRIL 10, 2018
Chief Howard “Skip” Mize, age 63, of Caseyville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
Skip was born August 23, 1954 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Henry Mize and Mary Mize (nee Pothanus).
In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike (Gale) Bell, and his godson Richard Hester.
Skip married Cindy Mize (nee Bell), the love of his life, on October 27, 1978.
Skip proudly served his country in the United States Army. As a part of his 30 years in Law Enforcement, he was Chief of Police for Shiloh and East Cardonelet. Skip retired from Lenzeburg police department. He was a member of Convent Worship Center, Backstoppers, and St. Clair County Deputy Reserves. He enjoyed being a HAM radio operator, hunting, fishing, and flea markets.
Skip is survived by his wife Cindy; godchildren, Stepenie Hester, Kaliegh Regan, Mya Regan, Jimmy Fowler, Kyle Regan, and Jaxxon Hester; brother-in-law, Gerald (Wanda) Bell and Ronnie (Maryann) Bell Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208.
In honor his many years of service, his wife Cindy has invited all Law Enforcement Officers past and present to attend a private hour of visitation from 1500 to 1600 hours, with the public invited for visitation from 1600 to 1900 hours with service on site at 1900 hours.
First Responder walkthrough is expected at about 1815 hours with honors to follow the service.
