White County Sheriff's Office News

I would like to thank the citizens of White County for their support in the past election. I am humbled to be elected for a fifth term as your Sheriff and will continue to serve you as I have for the past 16 years. I have the greatest respect for the Office of Sheriff. I would also like to thank my Deputies, Corrections Officers, Dispatchers and Court Security Officers. They are truly what makes this department great ! They are very dedicated people who do a very difficult job and deserve your respect. We will continue to make White County a safe place to live and raise your children. Thank you again! Sheriff Doug Maier

Congratulations to Aspen Craddock on your graduation from St. Clair County Corrections Academy. Excellent job.

Glad to have you in the office today...what a great asset you are to our youth today.

Sheriff Maier had a great visit with Emslee today. It is great to see young people interested in law enforcement.

Water levels continue to rise along the Little Wabash River at Carmi Illinois. Minor flooding will develop tomorrow evening with moderate flood conditions expected late Tuesday evening. A crest of over 7 feet above flood stage is expected Thursday. Never drive cars, trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated forecasts.

There will be extra traffic on the roadways this holiday weekend. Also Grayville Days is under way in Grayville. We ask that drivers use caution and have a safe and fun weekend.

Kids are going back to school this week. Please be aware of crosswalks and school bus stops. We hope everyone has a safe school year.

Thanks to all those who called, sent cards and brought goodies to help us mark National Police Week and National Police Memorial Day. It is wonderful that so many in our community recognize the great job our Deputies and Officers do. We really appreciate your support. Thank you.

The County is under a Red Flag warning for the rest of the week. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Impacts...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL LIKELY SPREAD RAPIDLY. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

Thanks to Ribby from the Guardian Center for hanging out with us yesterday. Keep up all the great work you are doing in the community.
