We are just 3 weeks away from our Touch-A-Truck event. Make plans now to see some of the coolest machines on wheels or tracks. We have helicopters, military vehicles, fire trucks, cop cars, combines, bulldozers, campers, huge crains, armored cars, bucket trucks and the list goes on and on. And you can get up close to all of it. It’s going to be a great day of fun and learning! All proceeds go towards a playground at the scout cabin. Tell everyone you know!

We are in the process of collecting school supply items for Johnston City Children that families might not be able to afford them. Among the items are dry erase markers, pencils, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, composition notebooks, headphones, and high lighters. If you would like to help we will have a donation box set up inside city hall for you to drop off during office hours or you can leave them on the police department steps by the door if an officer is not in the police department after hours. A little bit of help from a lot of people goes a long way!

Make plans to attend our first annual touch a truck event. All proceeds will go towards a new playground area at the scout cabin to help keep our kids off the street. More info to follow in the coming weeks!

Remember the blood drive today! Say your team police and help us win!!!!

A rivalry as old as the professions. Cops vs. fireman. Come and give blood on June 27 th at the First united Methodist church from 2pm to 6 pm. When you sign up say if your team police or team fireman and see who can get the best turnout. A “battle of the badges” shirt will be given out while supplies last. Remember to say TEAM POLICE!!!!!

The lunch bunch feeds kids in Johnston City a free lunch every day all summer long and also has activities to help them stay out of trouble. This is a great program for the community. A kickoff carnival is today from 10-2 with your chief of police in the dunk tank at noon!!!! Come see them!

The city hall (via the police department) has a limited amount of bottled water that can go towards the elderly or infants in need of water for their formula. We ask that you are in serious need of this water before coming up or calling the police department. If you do not need water you can still purchase soda or other drinkable items at the store. This is only for people that must have water or cannot get out to purchase other drinks. We ask that you also watch for your elderly neighbors in town and check on them to see if they need water as well. We will have officers available to deliver water to homebound individuals. We will also have 1 handicapped and 2 regular portable toilets behind the city hall for bathroom use since you might not be able to flush your toilets at home. If you have a water source (such as a pool) you can also add water to your toilet tank to be able to flush your toilet but do this at your own risk. Again, please watch over your neighbors to make sure everyone is safe through this situation. You may contact city hall at 618-983-5223 or the police department at 618-983-5888.

The water shortage is getting more severe by the hour. We are asking for residents to conserve water any way possible. No washing clothes, dishes, etc. we need to keep as much as we can for emergencies such as for fires. We are currently shutting down restaurants to avoid water usage there or asking them to use no water at all. This is affecting a large area not just Johnston City. We will keep you updated best we can.

The city of Johnston City is still unable to get water from the Rend Lake Conservancy District due to a large water main break. Therefore water is crucial to conserve. Please no washing of cars or yards or other unnecessary water usage until further notice. There is also a burn ban for Johnston City and the rest of Williamson County. We will keep you updated when new information becomes available.

The city volunteers are at it again today at the concession stand at Arrowhead Lake. Come out for breakfast and lunch to help raise money for a great new playground at the scout cabin!!!

If you’re not busy today stop by Arrowhead Campground concession stand for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All proceeds go towards getting this awesome playground for the children of Johnston City!!!

We are attempting to locate the owner of this lost dog. Please contact the JCPD with any information. Thanks
