LOGANSPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR POTENTIAL PATROL OFFICERS The Logansport Police Department will be testing for potential Patrol Officers. If interested, individuals should pick up an application at the police department records division located on the 2nd floor of the city building, 601 E. Broadway Logansport, Indiana. The applications should be returned by November 13th, 2018. The testing date will be provided to the applicants following the November 13th deadline. In order to be eligible to apply for appointment to the Logansport Police Department, an applicant must: 1. Be a resident citizen of the United States, and must be a resident of Cass County, Indiana or a contiguous county at the time of appointment. 2. Must be at least 21 years of age but under 36 years of age at the time of appointment. 3. Shall be a high school graduate or obtained a GED. 4. Must possess or able to acquire a valid Indiana driver’s license. 5. A dishonorable discharge from the military shall disqualify the applicant. 6. Applicants shall not have been convicted of a felony or a domestic violence battery and have no misdemeanor convictions in the last 3 years. 7. Must be able to successfully complete both the extensive physical agility test and written aptitude examination. 8. Must be able to pass through a background investigation and polygraph exam, if offered. 9. Must submit to an oral interview. 10. No illegal delivery of drugs for monetary or material gain. 11. No illegal use of any type of drugs five (5) years prior to applying. 12. Must be able to successfully complete the physical assessment upon the offer of employment and assignment to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. 13. Sign a three (3) year training agreement/employment contract (waived for ILEA certified officers.) 14. Must be willing to submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. BOO FEST 2018 BOO-Fest will be held on Sunday, October 21st. BOO-Fest will run from 1-3 pm at Riverside Park. If your looking for something fun to do with the kids on Sunday October 7th visit Riverside Park and join the Logansport Fire Department for their Fire Safety day. Events will run from noon -3 p.m. Activities include fire truck rides, fire safety house, free Dentzel Carousel rides, refreshments and a chance to win one of four bicycles. Drawing for the bicycle will be held at 3 p.m.

The Logansport Police Department would like to remind residents of the local ordinance regarding fireworks. Ordinance 2007-38 states consumer fireworks may be used, ignited or discharged within the corporate limits of the City of Logansport between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and two hours after sunset on 6/29, 6/30, 7/1, 7/2, 7/3, 7/5, 7/6, 7/7, 7/8 and 7/9. On July 4th between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight. The use, ignition or discharge of consumer fireworks other than during the above time periods shall constitute an infraction and shall be subject to a fine of $100.00. Please be respectful of your neighbors and be safe this Holiday season.
