SHOTS FIRED CALLS-Suspects located: On October 22nd, 2018 at approximately 6:48pm, officer responded to the 500 block of North 7th Street in reference to a “shots fired” call received at the 9-1-1 center. Upon arrival officers observed what appeared to be a gunshot hole in a vehicle parked in the area. There were no injuries as a result of the criminal recklessness. Officers interviewed the witnesses and soon located the suspect vehicle and occupants. All the vehicle occupants were escorted to the police department offices where they were interviewed by investigators. At approximately 9:31pm, another call of shots fired was dispatched for the area of the 200 block of East Clinton Street. In this incident two vehicles and a home were damaged as a result of what appeared to be gun fire. Officers interviewed the witnesses and within a short amount of time, additional officers located the suspect vehicle and escorted the occupants of the vehicle to the police department offices for further investigation. These incidents are continuing to be investigated and there is no additional information available at this time. We appreciate the efforts made by residents to quickly call for assistance allowing officers the swiftly apprehend the parties involved in this incident.

Officers found a supercute pupper in Brookside today and this pup is terribly sad to be away from it's home. Please contact dispatch at 574-533-4151 if you are the owner. We will take the dog to the Humane Shelter later today if we do not locate the owner.

GAS LEAK Update- NIPSCO is on scene, the gas has been shut off, and repairs are beginning.

ALERT-Gas leak Construction personnel in the area of 7th and Washington Streets struck and ruptured a gas pipe. Homes within the area have been evacuated. Residents are asked to avoid the area until repairs can be completed. There is not yet an ETA for the repair completion. Traffic will be diverted from the area until repairs have been made.

Well done, officers! Congratulations

Fatal crash in Goshen Lorenzo Ramirez, 03/10/1978 of 22133 CR 45 Elkhart was traveling west on Wilden Avenue. At approximately 8:56 pm, in the 800 block of Wilden, Mr Ramirez traveled off the road way striking a nipsco pole and rock wall causing the vehicle to flip. Ramirez was trapped in the vehicle and heavy extrication was needed by fire personnel. extrication took approx. 40 mins. Once Ramirez was extricated CPR was in progress. Ramirez succumbed to his injuries. Alcohol was believed to be a factor. There is no additional information available
