Concerning the recent tragedy that occurred this past week in Fulton County. First, I ask that you please remember all of the people that has been affected by this devastating and tragic loss in your thoughts and prayers. This has brought our community to its knees and we hurt. We have a very long road to recovery and we need to let the healing and recovery process take it course. AS expected, emotions are running high. We are in the early stages of an investigation which will be complete and thorough. No good can come from the harassment and the threats of violence against individuals involved. This needs to cease immediately and will not be tolerated. There is a process through the criminal investigation and the courts and I assure you that it is being followed. Lastly, I want to thank everyone for the open show of support for our County and Communities. As these last few days have been trying for all of us. I wish to thank the agencies that have called and offered support to my office, our 911 dispatch center and other 1st responders that have been involved. Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Indiana It is that time of year again as farmer's bring in their harvest. Sheriff Chris Sailors would like to remind everyone that as the harvest season is now in progress around the county and to remind the motoring public as they travel the roadways to be aware of slow moving farm equipment. Keep in mind while traveling on the county roads especially, most equipment is very large and will take up the entire roadway. When approaching a farm implement from the rear, do not assume the driver of the implement sees you. Some equipment has blind spots especially if you are right behind them. Keep your distance! If an implement pulls off to the right side of the roadway, do not assume he is doing so to let you pass. He may be doing this to make a left hand turn. So be cautious when passing. The Fulton County Sheriff's Department wants to ensure the motoring public is safe as well as our Fulton County Farmers during the harvest season! Sheriff Sailors

UPDATE THEFT OF FIREARM On March 31, 2018 Deputy B. Nault of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a business in Fulton County on a report of a theft of a firearm. A vintage 12 gauge shotgun was reportedly taken from the business without being paid for and a criminal investigation was launched. Through social media, surveillance video of the suspect and vehicle was shared. Tips were received almost immediately and of these tips lead to the possible identity of the suspect involved. Through the investigation, a Fulton County Circuit Court search warrant was granted for 9771 N 725 W Lot #103 Roann (Wabash County). On April 14, 2018 with the assistance of Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department executed the search warrant at the residence. Evidence was recovered during the execution of the search warrant linking the resident to the crime. On April 25, 2018 the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department served a Fulton County Circuit Court arrest warrant on Gary L. Moore, age 75, Raonn charging him with a single count of Theft of a Firearm. Deputy Jacob Pickett, Boone County Indiana Sheriff's Office, will not survive the injuries he sustained after getting shot in the line of duty while assisting Lebanon police this morning. Deputy Jacob Pickett’s body is being preserved so his organs can be donated. Police say all three suspects believed to be involved are in custody. Deputy Pickett was a husband and a father of two children, ages 3 and 4. He worked for the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office before he was hired in Boone County. He worked hard to become a K-9 officer and was with his K-9 Brick at the time of the shooting. Citizens Tips lead to the arrest of Fulton County Top 10 Fugitive along with 2 others Rochester In- The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department received several tips that a wanted person was located at a rural Fulton County residence. On February 13, 2018 officers from several agencies converged on 208 E 550 N Rochester. During the course of their investigation they located a Dawn M. Cook, age 41 inside the residence. Ms. Cook had an active arrest warrant out of Fulton County and was recently featured as one of Fulton County’s Top 10 Fugitives. While at the residence deputies developed enough probable cause to be granted a Fulton County Circuit Court search warrant for the property. During the search, officers allegedly found approximately three quarters of a pound of marijuana and several grams of methamphetamine and a stolen pickup truck. The truck was reported stolen from the South Bend area in September of 2017. The following individuals were arrested and have been booked into the Fulton County Jail on the following charges. Dawn M. Cook, 41 of Rochester was arrested on an active arrest warrant through Fulton County. She was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia. Eric Parsons, 37, of Coldwater Michigan was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia. John Dudgeon, 75 of Rochester was charges with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Theft, and Possession of Paraphernalia. Sheriff Christopher Sailors credits the community’s willingness to come forward with tips and information for the recent successes in combating illegal drugs and crime in our county. “We are getting tips almost daily from citizens who have had enough. Our deputy’s work diligently following up on each and every one.” Sheriff Sailors encourages citizens if they have any information regarding illegal activity to report it to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department at 574-223-2819 or they may also leave a tip with the Fulton County Crime Stoppers at 574-223-STOP (7867). Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department with the investigation were officers from the Indiana State Police and the Rochester Police Department. All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
