The Cambridge City Police Department has been made aware of some rumors circulating around social media about a possible threat of violence aimed at Western Wayne Schools. The department has been closely working with school officials and investigating this rumor. At this point this appears to be just that, a rumor. There does not appear to be any reason to believe that this was anything more than a rumor. At this point this is unsubstantiated as a credible threat by our department and school officials. We take threats against the school very seriously and they will be investigated accordingly. With that being said, anyone with any information regarding this rumor or any other threats are encouraged to report them to school officials, this department or the school resource officer. There will be additional officers posted at the school tomorrow morning to help ease any anxiety this rumor has generated. To report a threat or rumor please contact us at 765-478-1231 or 911 if an emergency exist. -Chief Roberts

***The Cambridge City Police Department would like to congratulate Officer Aaron Crawford for graduating from Basic Training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on February 2, 2018*** The Academy's Basic course for new police officers consists of over 600 hours of training in a variety of areas. Criminal and traffic law, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, physical tactics, EMS awareness and human behavior are some of the major areas of instruction during this course. A variety of other police related subjects such as accident investigation, criminal investigation, domestic violence and sexual assault, water rescue training, Standardized Field Sobriety Test, crime prevention and drug and narcotics are included in the areas an officer must study before graduating. The course of study is designed to incorporate practical as well as classroom exercises so the officers have a better idea of how they will react to situations they will encounter when they return to their departments.

We have received multiple calls today in regards to a possible phone scam. These people claim to be seeking money for fallen officers. It is recommended you do not donate to these people as it is a scam. No local agency will call you and ask for donations in this matter. Thank you

We apologize for the late posting of this however the boil advisory has been lifted. Thank you for your patience.
