Police Blotter October 29 - November 4, 2018 These are not all calls for service, only incidents requiring a written report. October 30, 2018 6:42 pm University Police responded to a student having a seizure in the KWC Fieldhouse. The student was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. October 31, 2018 2:41 pm University Police responded to a student having a seizure in Dunn Hall. The student was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. November 1, 2018 1:50 am University Police initiated a traffic stop for disregarding a stop sign and speeding at University Boulevard and Milton Avenue. The driver was arrested for an arrest warrant issued by Madison Circuit Court 4 for Contempt of Court and incarcerated in the Madison County Jail. November 1, 2018 11:30 pm University Police responded to a medical call at University Terrace Apartments. The resident was hypoglycemic. The officer obtained juice for the patient and quickly improved. November 2, 2018 2:09 pm Student Financial Services reported receiving multiple nuisance phone calls from a child. November 2, 2018 11:49 pm University Police responded to a loud party at an off campus residence. The party was terminated and persons were made to leave. Information was forwarded to Student Life for discipline. November 3, 2018 9:53 am An employee of AU Dining Services received a laceration to the head when a tray fell from a shelf. An officer initially treated the injury and the employee received further treatment from a MedCheck.

October 22, 2018 4:50pm University Police assisted Student Life with contraband found in a student's room in Dunn Hall. October 22, 2018 10:22pm University Police responded to a student having a seizure in Martin Hall. The student was transported by the Anderson Fire Department to a hospital for evaluation. October 23, 2018 9:20am University Police investigated a leaving the scene property damage crash in a parking lot behind Rice Hall. October 23, 2018 11:49am University Police was notified of a missing elderly female with Alzheimer's last seen on the AU campus. The woman was located at the Park Place Church of God. October 24, 2018 9:39am University Police responded to a student receiving a head injury in a fall in the Wilson Library. The student was transported by the Anderson Fire Department to a hospital for treatment. October 27, 2018 5:53am An officer assisted Student Life with contraband in a student's room in Dunn Hall. A visitor to the room fled Dunn Hall and was last observed on video leaving campus in a vehicle. The visitor has been identified and trespassed from campus. October 28, 2018 12:18am An officer responded to a loud party at a residence near campus.

October 18, 2018 8:18 pm University Police investigated the theft of a bicycle from the bike rack at Myers Hall. October 19, 2018 10:00 am University Police received a report of a student's vehicle sustaining damage while parked in a university parking lot. October 19, 2018 11:59 pm AU Physical Plant reported damage to a door on a room in Smith Hall. A lock had malfunctioned while a student was in the room. Physical Plant was on the scene awaiting a locksmith when another student kicked in the door. October 21, 2018 10:23 PM A student reported she had backed into parked vehicle in a university parking lot resulting in damage to both vehicles.

October 9, 2-18 10:40 am University Police and the Physical Plant Department conducted fire drills in all academic buildings. October 10, 2018 11:42 am University Police received a report of a stolen backpack from the Raven's Haven in the Olt Student Center. A student placed a back pack on a chair while getting food,on returning the property was gone. The backpack was located as it was turned into AU Dining Services as abandoned. October 10, 2018 8:38 pm University Police responded to a student having concussion symptoms after a fall in the dance studio. The student was evaluated by paramedics from the Anderson Fire Department and refused any further medical treatment. October 14, 2018 10:25 am An officer observed a suspicious man at a bicycle rack near Dunn Hall. The man was identified and was not affiliated with Anderson University. He was escorted from campus and prohibited from returning.

Police Blotter October 1-7, 2018 These are not all calls for service, only incidents requiring a written report. October 1, 2018 10:02pm University Police responded to a fire alarm at Fair Commons. The alarm was activated by steam from a shower. October 2, 2018 6:15pm University Police responded to a fire alarm at Fair Commons. The alarm was activated by a resident cooking. October 2, 2018 9:08pm University Police received a report from a student of harassing communications. October 4, 2018 7:21pm University Police responded to a fire alarm at Fair Commons. The alarm was activated by steam from a shower. October 5, 2018 12:48pm University Police responded to a personal injury crash in the 1300 block of University Boulevard in front of Dunn Hall. A Chevrolet HHR stopped for a pedestrian crossing the street when it was rear ended by a Chevrolet Silverado. Two occupants of the Chevrolet HHR were transported to a hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. Anderson Police assisted University Police.

September 25, 2018 10:34 pm University Police responded to an unconscious student in the lobby of Fair Commons. The student was responsive on arrival of the officer and was transported to the hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. September 27, 2018 3:02 pm University Police received a reported from a student who sustained damage to her vehicle while driving on uneven pavement in a university parking lot. September 27, 2018 8:51 pm University Police received a report from a student that left a backpack containing a cell phone and computer in York Performance Hall. The property was gone when the student returned two hours later. The backpack had been found and placed into an office for safekeeping. The property was returned to the student the following day. September 28, 2018 12:03 am An officer responded to Fair Commons for a student that had a laceration to a hand and loss of consciousness. The student was responsive on arrival and was also evaluated by paramedics from the Anderson Fire Department. The student refused further medical treatment. September 29, 2018 9:05 am University Police investigated a crash involving a golf cart. A student drove the golf cart into a window in the breezeway of Decker Hall breaking the glass. The student was not injured.

September 17, 2018 2:42PM University Police investigated a property damage crash in a university parking lot involving two vehicles. September 17, 2018 7:15PM University Police investigated a vehicle being sideswiped while parked on 7th Street. The suspect vehicle left the scene and red paint exchange was left on the parked vehicle. September 17-19, 2018 University Police conducted fire drills in all resid3ence halls and apartments. September 17, 2018 10:23PM University Police responded to a carbon monoxide alarm in an apartment in Fair Commons. Occupants were evacuated. Anderson Fire Department responded and testing indicated a high level of CO. A gas water heater was turned off and the apartment was ventilated. September 18, 2018 4:52PM University Police responded to a fire alarm in Dunn Hall. A smoke detector was activated due to food burnt while cooking. September 18, 2018 11:05PM A University Police officer investigated a suspicious person in a parking lot. The subject was arrested on a warrant for Battery issued from Marion City Court and incarcerated in the Madison County Jail. September 19, 2018 11:59PM University Police responded to a theft report in Smith Hall of a book bag containing a laptop. Video surveillance indicated the property was inadvertently picked up by another student. The property was returned. September 20, 2018 9:54AM University Police investigated a theft of Bose headphone from Smith Hall. The property was recovered in a parking lot. September 21, 2018 1:52AM University Police responded to an alarm at the Park Place Church of God Community Center. The building was searched and no suspect was located. A file cabinet had been broken into and cash stolen. September 22, 2018 1:52AM University Police attempted to stop a vehicle however the vehicle sped away. The vehicle struck a fence and the driver fled. A suspect has been identified. September 23, 2018 10:47PM An officer found a gray backpack while patrolling near the Wellness Center. September 23, 2018 11:35PM An officer responded to the Park Place Church of God Community Center on an alarm. The building was searched and nothing was found disturbed.

September 12, 2018 6:51 PM University Police responded to a disturbance at University Blvd. & Graceland Avenue in which a person's foot was ran over by a vehicle. The victim was treated for injuries and did not wish to pursue criminal charges. September 15, 2018 7:53 PM University Police responded to a fire alarm in Fair Commons. Steam from a shower activated a detector. September 16, 2018 10:38 PM University Police responded to a fire alarm in a room in Smith Hall. A visitor was smoking a vape pipe and activated a detector. Report submitted to Student Life for disciplinary consideration.

September 1, 2018 4:36pm University Police responding to a student having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. The student refused treatment or transport to a medical facility. September 2, 2018 1:50pm A student reported oranges had been thrown at her vehicle while parked in South Campus. Damage was sustained to the vehicle. September 3, 2018 12:02pm An officer responded to a student having difficulty breathing in Martin Hall. The student was transported to the hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. September 4, 2018 8:54am University Police responded to a student having a seizure in Hartung Hall. The student was transported to the hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. September 4, 2018 10:40pm University Police responded to a fire alarm in Smith Hall. The alarm was activated by a student accidentally bumping the pull station. September 5, 2018 8:40am University Police conducted a traffic stop on University Boulevard for speeding. The driver was determined to be a habitual traffic violator. The driver was released and felony charges are pending. September 5, 2018 4:38pm University Police responded to a student in the Wellness Center experiencing numbness in an arm. The student was transported by a friend for medical treatment. September 8, 2018 8:58pm University Police received found money from a visitor to campus.

August 20, 2018 7:45pm University Police contacted a person on the third floor of Fair Commons selling subscriptions to the Herald Bulletin. The subject was escorted from the building and advised there was no soliciting on campus. August 23, 2018 5:31pm University Police responded to a fire alarm in Fair Commons. Steam from a shower activated the photo cell smoke detectors. August 28, 2018 3:24am A student reported observing a male with a flashlight looking into vehicles in the Tara East parking lot. The suspect was located and trespassed from campus. August 27, 2018 12:35pm University Police investigated a property damage crash in the Reardon south parking lot. August 27, 2018 3:32pm A dead tree in Maplewood Cemetery fell onto a fence and three vehicles in a university parking lot near the Wellness Center. August 28, 2018 4:50am University Police approached two males in a parking lot. One of the subjects ran while the second subject was detained. He was identified and later released. August 28, 2018 1:00pm University Police received a report from a student that a male had followed her on campus the previous day. August 31, 2018 5:42pm University Police investigated a vehicle receiving damage while parked in the 300 block of Cottage Avenue.

University Police and the Anderson Fire Department conducted fire suppression training for the Resident Directors and Resident Assistants. Residential staff were instructed on procedures for responding to a fire in residence halls or apartments. Resident assistants were provided an opportunity to extinguish a fire.

Police Blotter August 1-15, 2018 These are not all calls for service, only incidents requiring a written report. August 2, 2018 8:20am University Police investigated a bicycle theft from a student residing at an off-campus residence. August 2, 2018 9:55am University Police responded to an injury in the Student Center. An AU Dining Services employee sustained a minor laceration to the top of his head. The employee was treated at the scene. August 3, 2018 12:36am University Police were dispatched to the CVS at Scatterfield Road & University Blvd. on a book bag left in the pharmacy. The property was placed in safekeeping until the owner can be located. August 11, 2018 10:00am A student reported a bicycle stolen from a bike rack located near Fair Commons. The bicycle was a white Trek off road bicycle. Video surveillance indicated the bicycle was taken at 4:12am. Photo displayed below. August 12, 2018 9:20am A cell phone charging station at the MarketPlace in the Student Center was vandalized August 14, 2018 7:45am University Police were contacted by a local resident concerning damage to a vehicle when driven through spilled paint on University Blvd. and Nursery Road. The paint was spilled by university physical plant employees.

Police Blotter July 16-31, 2018 These are not all calls for service, only incidents requiring a written report. July 19, 2018 6:30 PM University Police responded to a soccer camp participant having difficulty breathing in the Kardatzke Wellness Center. The patient was transported to St. Vincent's Emergency Department by the Anderson Fire Department. July 20, 2018 2:40 AM University Police was assisting Anderson Police on a hit and run vehicle crash and stopped a person matching the description of the driver fleeing the scene. The person had two active warrants for Probation Violation from Anderson City Court and for Contempt of Court issued by Madison Circuit Court 2. University Police arrested Shawn Ashby on the warrants and transported him to the Madison County Jail. July 22, 2018 12:17 AM University Police received a request from a family member to conduct a welfare check on a resident in University owned property. The resident was assisted with medication. July 30, 2018 9:10 PM University Police and Security responded to a property damage crash on University Boulevard in front of Rice Hall. A vehicle left the road, drove into the median striking a street light and a tree.

July 12, 2018 11:46am University Police responded to an injured participant in a soccer camp. The patient sustained head and neck injuries and was transported to a hospital by ambulance. July 12, 2018 7:26pm University Police responded to a participant from a cheer-leading camp sustaining neck and spine injuries. The patient was transported to a hospital by ambulance. July 14, 2018 5:54am University Police responded to a property damage crash in the 1500 block of University Blvd. as a driver left the roadway and drove into a median striking a tree and bushes. The driver left the scene however called police within minutes and subsequently returned. July 15, 2018 5:28am University Police received a fire alarm at Byrum Hall. The building was checked and no signs of a fire or smoke was detected. The alarm was reset. July 15, 2018 10:25pm A report was taken of the theft of produce from the Anderson University Community Garden.

June 17, 2018 12:01am An officer observed a moped being operated without any lights. The driver drove off the road, wrecked the moped and fled on foot. The moped had been reported stolen to the Anderson Police Department. June 20, 2018 10:46pm University Police responded to a medical call in Myers Hall. A visitor complained of pain to a knee and was provided an ice pack. June 20, 2018 10:10am University Police received information of a campus violation occurring in a residence hall. Rooms were searched and contraband was confiscated. Occupants were sent home by their camp director. June 21, 2018 2:02pm University Police responded to the Kardatzke Wellness Center for a student sustaining a leg injury in the weight room. Student was transported by a parent for medical treatment. June 21, 2018 9:24pm University Police responded to an Indecent Exposure near University Blvd. and College Drive. A student was approached by a subject requesting sex and the person then exposed himself. Suspect was described as a male/black approximately 6'3" and 120 pounds wearing all black. His T-shirt had "Aspen Creek Grill" written on it. June 28, 2018 11:50pm University Police responded to a fire alarm in a residence hall. A visitor ignited an aerosol can with a lighter activating the alarm.

June 3, 2018 12:34am An officer witnessed a juvenile throw a rock at a sign owned by Anderson University causing minimal damage to the sign. The juvenile was briefly detained and identified. June 11, 2018 3:34pm University Police responded to an insect bite received by a Christ In Youth (CIY) camper. June 12, 2018 9:25pm University Police responded to a person having chest pains in Reardon Auditorium. The person was transported to Community Hospital. June 13, 2018 3:57pm University Police responded to a CIY camper that received a fractured foot during a volleyball game in the Kardatzke Wellness Center. The camper was transported to Community Med Check for evaluation.

A student was cooking and activated a smoke detector. May 19, 2018 10:15am A resident in the 1700 block of University Avenue reported loud music in an apartment next door. May 25, 2018 8:00pm University Police observed gang graffiti had been written on the back of two stop signs in parking lot #9. The officer removed the markings. May 26, 2018 12:30am University Police removed abandoned bicycles left on campus and placed into storage. May 31, 2018 9:00am University Police investigated the theft of a $600 bicycle from a bike rack in York Seminary Village apartments. The bicycle is a men's 29" Scott Aspect and is pictured below.

Anderson University Police Department and Madison County Emergency Management Agency assisted with street closure for the Kidz Marathon held on campus Saturday, May 19. The annual event is sponsored by St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and Anderson University.

April 30, 2018 12:43pm University Police conducted a welfare check on a distraught student at the requ3est of a parent. The student was escorted to AU Counseling Services by a Resident Assistant. May 1, 2018 2:00am University Police responded to a fire alarm in Fair Commons. A smoke detector was activated by a diffuser in a student's room. May 1, 2018 12:10pm University Police investigated a property damage crash that occurred in a university parking lot. May 1, 2018 6:50pm University Police investigated a suspicious subject that occurred two hours earlier. A male white approached a female student north of Rice Hall and asked several questions. The area was checked and the subject was not located. May 3, 2018 5:04am University Police responded to a fire alarm in Smith Hall. A smoke detector had malfunctioned. May 3, 2018 8:01am University Police investigated property damage to a university owned vehicle near the Student Center loading dock.

April 23, 2018 1:58am An officer observed a male enter a door that had been propped open to Fair Commons. The subject was located on the third floor checking room doors. He was escorted from the building and trespassed from AU property. April 24, 2018 12:25am University Police received multiple calls of fireworks set off near Fair Commons. Investigation determine the fireworks originated from a third floor room in Fair Commons. A suspect was identified and fireworks confiscated. Information submitted to Student Life for discipline. April 24, 2018 1:39pm University Police investigated a property damage crash near 6th and College Drive. An older white motor home with stripes sideswiped the mirror on a pickup truck. The motor home left the scene and was last observed eastbound on University Blvd. from College Drive. April 24, 2018 8:45pm University Police responded to a student having a panic attack at an off campus residence. The student was having difficulty breathing and non responsive. Anderson Fire Department transported the student to a hospital. April 27, 2018 8:21pm A student had a seizure at an event in the Valley. The student refused medical treatment from the Anderson Fire Department. An AUPD officer transported the student to her residence. April 29, 2018 2:14pm AUPD responded to a fire alarm in Martin Hall. A student had been cooking in the lobby kitchen and burnt food.

April 16-18, 2018 University Police conducted fire drills in all residence halls and apartments April 18, 2018 8:25am University Police responded to a fire alarm in the Olt Student Center. A smoke detector in the Marketplace had been activate from burnt toast. April 16, 2018 8:53am University Police investigated a two vehicle personal injury crash at East 6th Street and College Drive involving two AU students. Both drivers received minor injury and refused medical treatment at the scene,

April 11, 2018 3:39pm University Police stopped a vehicle for traveling the wrong direction on a one way street. The driver was arrested and incarcerated in the Madison County Jail for Operating a Vehicle Without Ever Obtaining a License (C/M).

April 2, 2018 4:48pm University Police responded to an off-campus residence on an overdose victim in cardiac arrest. University Police administered Narcan and performed CPR. Patient was transported to Community Hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. April 3, 2018 1:15am University Police responded to afire alarm in the School of Theology and observed the building filled with smoke. The Anderson Fire Department was called to assist. The smoke was produced by an overheated air handler resulting from power surges cause by area wide power outages. April 5, 2018 11:00pm A student observed two men with flashlights breaking into a vehicle at an off campus business. The suspects left in an older Chevrolet Camaro prior to officer arrival. April 6, 2018 12:10pm A student reported unsafe driving on a street near campus. April 7, 2018 12:36am Security officer and Residential Life staff conducted a welfare check on a student in a residence hall. April 7, 2018 6:03pm A student was injured in the Kardatzke Wellness Center playing basketball. He was transported to the hospital by the Anderson Fire Department. April 7, 2018 7:27pm Fire alarm was received from Martin Hall. A smoke detector was activated by a student using hair spray. April 8, 2018 12:09am A welfare check was completed on a student making suicidal threats. April 8, 2018 8:55pm A welfare check was conducted on a student in a residence hall.
