A number of people have asked whether there is an exception within the ordinance for driving to/from work. There is no exception but for essential emergency personnel. Specifically, state law addressing the emergency declaration exempts individuals needed to maintain a rail system, restore utility service, or to "provide any other emergency public service." (Indiana Code 10-14-3-29). Please note as well that because of the formal emergency declaration, and the travel warning, Indiana state law---in addition to the County Ordiance---creates a misdemeanor crime for violating an emergency declaration. It is defined at Indiana Code 10-14-3-34. http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title10/ar14/ch3.html Please stay off the roads and inside during this time.
