Thank you to the men and women who are and have served this great country!

Chief Deputy Tom Latham and Detective Jeremy Fortune were able to spend the morning at North Posey High School today. The two spoke with Mrs. Ho's Bio Med classes about Blood Spatter along with various other topics such as Crime Scene/Criminal Investigations, lividity, and rigor mortis.

Chief Deputy Tom Latham spoke to the North Posey High School S.A.D.D. Club today. He and Detective Jeremy Fortune spoke about the ripple effects which alcohol and drug induced driving have on family, friends, and society.

Good day to have lunch catered by John Pearce and his breakfast crew today! We were also able to be part of John’s 80th birthday! Thanks to John and his guy’s sponsoring the first responders lunch! Great group of thoughtful folks!

Today marked 20 years at the Sheriff’s Office for Detective Jeremy Fortune. Jeremy began his career as a jail officer in 1996 and was ultimately hired as a road deputy June 25, 1998. Jeremy has worked diligently through those twenty years investigating drug labs and drugs as a FBI task force officer, along with other crimes such as murders, rapes, robberies, ect. Jeremy stands and accepts his 20 year pin from Sheriff Oeth as Chief Deputy Latham stands in support of him. We should also thank his wife and family for providing the support for him during his journey thus far. Congratulations Jeremy we are very proud of you!

After over 11 years Deputy Dan Montgomery signed off duty as a full time deputy sheriff today. We would like to wish Dan the best in all his endeavors. However this is not good bye, but simply see you soon. Dan will remain with the office with a part time status. Thank you Dan for your hardworking and dedicated years of service not only as a deputy sheriff but jail officer, dispatcher, and volunteer fireman for Marrs Twp. Your life of community service doesn’t go unnoticed! God bless.

Deputies Justin Rutledge, Dustin Seitz and Chief Deputy Tom Latham had a great time with playing with children of CAPE Head Start Posey County yesterday.

April is child abuse prevention month. Chief Deputy Tom Latham and Posey County Prosecutor Travis Clowers along with other social workers place the symbols, pin wheels, of child abuse prevention in the ground to remind everyone we all may take the initiative and do our part in prevention of child abuse.

A Special "THANK YOU" to Jerry and Susan Rutledge of Mt. Vernon! Jerry and Susan donated these toys for the deputies to hand out to children when confronted with traumatic or troubling situations. Deputy Justin Rutledge and his wife placed the items in bags so the deputies are able to distribute them accordingly. Again THANK YOU Rutledge's!

**** Posey County Dispatch’s phones are currently experiencing problems. If you have an emergency please call 911; however if you have a complaint or have administrative questions please call 838–1321. We will notify you as soon as we learn dispatch is back up and running. Have a safe day.

We will be accepting applications for two Deputy Sheriff positions beginning January 8, 2018 at 8am until the end of the business day, 4pm, January 30, 2018. Applications may be picked up at the office Monday – Friday, 8am-4-pm. Our temporary office location is 311 Mill Street in Mt. Vernon, behind the Posey County 911 dispatch center.
