Notable drugs found throughout the entirety of the investigation included over forty (40) grams of methamphetamine, nearly two pounds of marijuana, crack cocaine, and multiple types of prescription medication. On Monday evening, a concerned citizen called in a drug complaint and TNT members responded to the 300-block of Terrace Court. Upon making contact with the resident, a consent search was conducted inside the apartment. Officers located four subjects inside the residence, as well as, various illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Jamie Dowden, 44 of Tipton, was arrested for “Dealing Methamphetamine” (Level 2 Felony), “Possession of Methamphetamine” (Level 3 Felony), “Dealing in Controlled Substances” (Level 4 Felony), “Possession of Cocaine” (Level 6 Felony), “Possession of a Narcotic Drug” (Level 6 Felony), “Possession of Controlled Substances” (Class A Misdemeanor), “Dealing Marijuana” (Class A Misdemeanor), and “Possession of Marijuana” (Class B Misdemeanor). There were no injuries reported as a result of this investigation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Tipton Police Department and Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, which includes jail staff, will be partnering to participate in a fundraiser entitled “No-Shave November – Back the Beards” beginning November 1st and ending November 30th. Both law enforcement agencies will allow officers to grow well-groomed facial hair during this time period. Citizens should be aware of this program for two reasons: first, don’t be alarmed if you encounter an officer in uniform with a beard, and second, we want citizens to participate in “No-Shave November – Back the Beards” with us. As a show of support toward those affected by cancer all officers will display a multicolored pin on their uniform, which represents all forms of cancer. Tipton Police Assistant Chief Jeff Stout said, “The goal of No-Shave November – Back the Beards is to grow cancer awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. We are going to donate the money, typically spent on shaving and grooming, to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.” Participating officers will personally donate twenty dollars apiece, as well as, ask for citizens to donate towards the program. Donations may be turned in to any Tipton Police Department officer or any Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputy. They may also be mailed to or dropped off at the Tipton Police Department (225 E Jefferson Street Tipton, Indiana 46072) or the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office (121 W Madison Street Tipton, Indiana 46072). Anyone wishing to donate with a check is asked to make the check payable to F.O.P. Lodge #109. All funds collected by both departments will be donated from the F.O.P. to the IU Simon Cancer Center Discovery Fund at the end of the program. Donations are tax deductible. #tiptonpd

October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” and Tipton Police Department officers will be participating in the month-long national campaign by wearing pink shirts underneath our uniforms. Our goal is to show encouragement for individuals who are currently fighting the disease, share in delight with those who have survived, and remember those who have succumbed during the fight. One in eight American women and one in a thousand American men will battle breast cancer throughout their lives. We feel this means there is a good chance that each person we serve has a personal connection to breast cancer. Chief Clark said, “This is a way for us to publicly show concern for our local community members who have been affected and bring awareness to breast cancer prevention.” Join us in wearing pink for the month of October to show your support! #tiptonpd
